So i bought a brand new dress - maggie sotterro sabelle - before i found out i was pregnant, i was a 10-12, the dress is a size 14 because i have quite a large rounded bum! this dress was £1100 when i was pregnant i got so big at 4 months that i ended up in maternity clothes, unfortunately on the 4th month the baby died and i had to be operated on. its been almost 6 weeks, this week my partner has told me that i look as if I've lost a large amount of weight, i go to try my dress on to make sure and its hanging off me, not only that i appear to losing weight very quickly and I'm worried that i am not going to to be able to fit into this beautiful dress that took me forever to find! should i look at possibly getting a new dress or try and find a good seamstress to see if she can get the dress to fit me again?

Dresses can normally be altered up to 3 sizes generally but maybe hold off for a couple months? Your body will still be reacting to the loss and surgery at this stage xx

It's early days yet, your body will take a little while to adjust. Try it in a month or two, you might change again and this will still give you enough time to decide if it can be altered or a new dress is needed.

I think that's the right thing - see how you feel and if you really hate it, look into alternatives! Let your body and you calm and relax because it's a traumatic experience to have gone through so your body will need time :) lots of hugs to you xxx

I agree with the girls. Give your body chance to recover and take it from there. But as mentioned, you can get a lot taken in. My dress is massive on me but it will be altered to size.

Sorry about your loss.
In relation to your dress, I'd check with a dress maker whether it can be altered to fit you if you don't gain weight in the next 7 or 8 months.

I am so sorry for you loss *hugs*
I agree with everyone else on the dress, wait a few months and see how your body changes, because you will still be settling down from the surgery. Then take the dress to a seamstress and ask if they can take it in.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your baby. I agree wholeheartedly with April. The most important thing right now, is that your body has chance to recover, and has everything it needs. Most dresses are very adjustable, so don't worry. Be healthy x

Thank you ladies! I've contacted the dress shop and they are quite confident that the dress could be taken in a few sizes which I'm so happy to hear, they want me to go in with my dress for a fitting in 4 months to see if it needs changing and the woman was so understanding i may be able to exchange for the smaller size - your all so lovely! Hugs! Xxx

Sorry for your loss Becca, just make sure you look after number 1 at the moment and don't let anything stress you out too much! The shop sounds fab and supportive, it will all work out in the end one way or another just try to put it out of your mind for now :) x

I can't imagine what you've been through. Really sorry for you. :/ About the dress, the girls said everything. Just give your body some time to heal and recover and in a couple of months you can try on your dress again and see how it goes. No rush needed.

Glad to hear that the shop is willing to help out. You've got plenty of time so you can concentrate on your recovery.
Wishing you well xx

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I think the other girls have covered it. Your body has went through a huge amount in such a short space of time that it is struggling to keep up with all of those changes. However do speak with your dr to be sure that everything is ok as it isn't good to lose a large amount of weight in a short period of time. Make sure your healthy and then worry about the dress xx

sorry to hear about your loss, I too have been through a loss like this. However as a nurse I too know it is not healthy to loose alot of weight in quick successions. if your too worried I would seek medical advice from your GP. on another note it should not be too hard to get a seamstress to sort your dress. Take care and I wish you well both you and your H2B X

I'm so sorry about the loss of your baby. I should think the dress will be able to be taken in, but make sure your weight has stabilised before you get it altered, so it doesn't need altering twice. My dress was a size 14 sample, and was too big even when I bought it, and then I lost weight and was a size 8. A seamstress will easily be able to take the dress in; it's a lot easier to do that than to make it bigger.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.

SOrry to hear of what you are going through, naturally at a time like you are going to lose weight. Hopefully your seamstress can do something with it so you don't need to get a new one.
