    Hi all.

Can you all please help me? Our wedding invitation is scheduled in to be completed next month (due to the companies holidays) and I seriously need help with the wording of it all......

How do I word the main invitation part? Myself and fiance are not keen on the "Mr and Mrs X invite u to the wedding of their daughter...." but we would like our parents mentioned on the invite - but the invite is from us. Thing is.... my h2bs mam is married to his stepdad and his dad (not a maj part of his life but coming to wedding) is married to his stepmum.... so how do u word that?

Insert 1 - RSVP and Menu card
What on earth do you write on here?
Our guests have an option of two courses so we need them to choose which one they would like - do I just simply list the courses and ask them to tick?

Insert 2 - Is this okay for a poem about the gifts? A lot of people have started asking us for our "gift list" and we really dont want gifts as we've lived together for nearly 2 years so we'd just rather if they are insistent that they want to give us something (personally i dont mind either way) that we just wanted to hint at some money towards our honeymoon?

We are sending out this invitation
In hope you will join our celebration
But if a gift is your intention
May we take this opportunity to mention
A contribution to our honeymoon pot
Would be appreciated such a lot
But the most important thing to say
We hope you are there to celebrate our day!

(i dont know if the last two lines makes sense? any advice or rewording would be greately appreciated!)

I'm sorry to trouble you all with this but im not good word wise and I obviously need to get this right

    xxxx

    Happily Married! :) xxx

How about "Nicola Ross and Jamie Knowles together with their families invite xxx to celebrate their wedding" ?

Menu card: I would just list the options with a tick box.

Poem is lovely and totally makes sense :-)

if you want to include parents on invite then put something like

    Jane Smith & John Doe
    together with their parents
request the pleasure of your company

    to celebrate their marriage.......

    xx

    Aw thanks lana

The thing is with a tick we would just get a quantity of how many courses are needed per group of people..... the venue has asked us for a detailed list of who wants want....

so is there a way of saying "put your name next to the course you want?"

I dont want to upset my parents by not putting their names on, even though we want our invites from me and jay.... so i was thinking to get a select few say "mr and mrs x invite you....... bla bla" just to go out to my family - but then thats complicated lol

ahhhhhh i dunno what to do!

his parents arent paying a penny towards the wedding, and mine are paying about 60% so im not sure on the etiquette lol

This is what we have gone for ( feel free to steal/adapt)

    INVITE

    Emma
    Daughter of x and y
    &
    Kevin
    Son of x and y
    Would like to invite
    *********
To their forthcoming marriage as they become Mr & Mrs

My parents are divorced so for that we have put both my parents first and second name and for H2b have put just their first name and then their surname after both of their first names as it shows a difference (I hope that makes sense). Perhaps you could put son of (mum) and step son of (mums husband) and son of (dad) and step son of (dads wife)?

    MENU
we also are offering choices and I have made a card (the size of RSVP card) to send back with the boxes ticked, they will then be on the table on the day to help guests remember what they ordered and the venue staff.

    Hope that helps a little?

aw natalee that is so cute! i wish i had kids just to do that lol!
would make like so much easier.
had a word with my mum and dad and theyve (we'll say) expressed that if the invite doesnt say "Mr and Mrs x would like to invite you the the wedding of the daughter Nicola to x" etc that they would be unbelievably upset.
    I really dont want that.
To me a lot of my life has been kinda in my dads shadow (hes my boss at work) and everyone already sees me as the boss' daughter and the majority of our friends and my h2bs family haven't met my parents so I would prefer for me and jay to invite everyone rather than my parents.

I'm seriously considering getting x no. of invites wrote the way they want just to post to my side of the family only, and the rest the way me and my h2b want it for everyone else.

I think thats a good idea having some done for your family from your parents and the rest of them from you and h2b saves all arguments x

    Ours will probably say:

    Justin & Charlotte
    Together with their families

Requst the pleasure of the company of

    ………………………………………………………………………….
    To celebrate their marriage

    At............................... on Friday 17 July 2015 at 2.00 P.M.

Evening reception to follow at 7.30pm

My parents are contributing but h2b's mum isnt, so slightly reluctant to have it from both families, but h2b doesnt want them coming from my parents, so this was the next best thing to keep everyone happy.

our invites are coming from us as we are paying the majority of the wedding (£10,000). my parents are paying about £2500 and H2B Parents about £1000. i was thinking about putting them from my parents but they are divorced and it would just be a bit weird. i think it tends to be whoever is paying the most who is 'hosting' the wedding but you put whatever you like. personally if my parents had said that they would be really upset i would just do it for them just to save any arguments lol. its really not worth it and no-one will probably even notice xx

isn't it tradition that the parents of the bride do the invites because it is their daughter they are giving away so they would say we are delighted to invite you to the wedding of our daughter or something like that? then if his lot go mad, you can say you were just sticking to tradition? x

Yeah thats my parents point that its tradition... but its just not us we're quite untraditional haha.

And yeah that would saying would work expect his parents are divorced and both remarried..... so it would be like 4 names plus theyre not helping us one lil bit towards wedding so my parents would be more upset if we did that lol just cant win

I think i might email my stationary woman and ask if she'll do half one way and half our way and then the parents invite will only go to my side of the family and fingers crossed they'll never find out :S x

    Happily Married! :) xxx
