Really depends on what you want!

You can do it yourself by buying bits from hobby shops and the bay, etc.

But then you have to spend the time dressing it up.

My venue had a package where table decorations and centre pieces were included as well as chair covers and sashes. Just means we pay a but more per person, but it'll all be taken care of.

We have all that included too. But our room is more of a conference room and I want to dress it up and make it more personal to us with drapes and lights and things like that if that makes sense :-) so many things to think about lol xx

Then I'd suggest about £100 if you get stuff from the bay, the r@nge is good for that, or hobbycr@ft if you want to make it yourself

Drapes and lighting at a local company I obtained a quote from came in at £1500. That was for a 50 ft room to have full wall drapes, ceiling drapes, mood lighting and a starlit backdrop.

We only have chair covers included in our package. We can have the sashes from our venue too but we found a company that does it chaper by about £1 per sash, so makes a big difference. So from this outside company we are paying approx £300 for roughly 65 sashes, 8 table centrepieces, top table and cake table swag and a wishing well. All depends on what you want!

We're doing it ourselves and have a hall and a marquee to do. Were making loads of bunting, buying fairy lights in the after Xmas sales and collecting jars for candles and flowers. We're having chair covers done for the chairs inside for £1 a chair. So for 50 chair covers, bunting, lights were estimating about £100 xx

I think we paid £280, this was for chair covers with sashes, and table centrepieces (tall candelabras with pomanders). She said we will get the top table dressed for free

Depends on the size of the room but if say Charlie's is realistic if you want the full sha-bang! I was gonna say £1k ish, you could probably source lots yourself but I'm lazy lol x

Its fairly small, I'm not very artistic at all, and terrible at matching things so it will be a case of having to have someone come in and do it for me. I want wall drapes and a starlit backdrop for the top table. I did want ceiling drapes, however been told the room we are having doesnt have the right fittings for them :(. Awaiting a few quotes for them from local companies xxx

We're having a village hall for our reception venue and it doesn't have the fittings for drapes and lining to be put up so we're having an indoor marquee put up instead, which doesn't cost much more. Basically they put the frame inside the hall and put a marquee up that way! It will be ivory, with a draped ceiling, fully lined walls, and it will go round the doorways so you can access all the rooms. When you walk into the hall it will look like you've walked straight into a marquee! We are also getting 2 chandeliers complete with dimmer switches and 8 back lights to put behind the marquee lining. It's costing us about £1000 but will completely change the look of the place. Aswell as that we've made bunting to put outside and in some of the other rooms in the village hall, and we're hiring round paper lanterns to hang up too. I bought fairy lights in the sales after Christmas and been buying ribbon and bits and pieces off the bay of e for months. I've also been saving jam jars for flowers. All in all decorations have cost me about £1400. It's maybe cost slightly more to decorate than hotel venue but I get the country wedding that I was wanting and I'm saving a fortune on food!

Thanks kitty! I hope it all works out fine as there's never been a wedding there before so it's all a bit of an experiment! I'm sure it will work out fine on the day though! In some ways I really wish we'd chosen a venue where it's all done for us as I'm not going to enjoy the stress of setting it all up and decorating the night before the wedding! So good decision if you'd rather not have to do too much! :)

Our problem was location as we wanted somewhere close to the church and all the places near us are your typical 'essex' venues where everyone we know has already got married so all those places were ruled out...and all the suitable village hall places were slightly further away...luckily we stumbled across a new venue (when we booked there had never been a wedding there either!) just over 10mins away from the church so just decided that would be best - i was sort of looking forward to putting my own stamp on somewhere but i am sure I will be glad of it nearer the time! :)

Yes you will! I wish someone would come along and do all mine for me! There's so much to do now it's 3 months away, and I'm such a perfectionist I know I'll want to be there all day the day before making sure everything is just right! I'm already panicking st the thought of leaving the final bits to everyone else on the wedding morning! I'm tempted to hire a professional to do it all for me...if only I had the money!

I am also having a village hall with an indoor marquee. It just completely transforms the space from what looks like a sports hall to a romantic dressed venue. My indoor marquee comes in at £750, but the venue itself is only £600! I am making my own bouquets, swags for top table and cake table and my DJ is a family friend who can also provide coloured mood lighting to fit our theme.

Maybe start with g00gle search of weddings at your venue for some inspiration.

I did read on a post that someone was using their bridesmaids bouquets in vases for centre pieces and think that is a fabulous idea.

Our center pieces are small bouquets and our florist has agreed to dress the tables at no extra cost. We have hired 100 chair covers and sashes for £2.40 each which includes delivery and setting up. We have brought and made a lot of little bits our self to add to the tables and venue. We have brought a vintage cake stand from Ebay too for £13 which looks amazing. It all really depends on what you like and how creative you are and how much money you have..In total our decorations have probably cost around £800 that also includes a lit up dance floor and mood lighting from the DJ's side business.
