    Hi ladies

I have a beautiful princess style dress which needs a bit more volume at the bottom. its a corset top and the bottom is made of tulle. I have had a look but there are so many different underskirts out there and wondered if people had any advice

Im wondering if a stiff underskirt made of tulle would be better rather than one with a hoop. worried it might show. Also if anyone has any recommendations of where to get one from for a good price

    thanks xxx

I think if the bottom of tulle maybe a tulle underskirt would be better, however saying that, a friend had a tulle skirt and had a hoop, she got one that was a bit too big though and ended up taking some hoops out,

I have a hoop and was worried about it showing through my dress. it's my moms old hoop. but when I tried it on it was fine, if anything too small. so I think you need to play with them in your dress to see what feels right. my dress has tulle built into the skirt with a satin material over the top of that which helped it not show through

I liked the idea of a hoop as it meant my feet are few around my dress.

    Maybe speak to your seamstress?

In my previous dress I had ordered I got a jupon 3 layer net with 2 hoops, which I could take out if the net was enough or can expand or make smaller the hoops to fill out the dress. If you've got a big princess dress you will need something to hold up the style, net may not be enough but if you have one that has both you can test it out. If you go for just one hoop it's not too 'swaying' to look at if that's what you're concerned about also makes it far easier to walk I rather than getting your legs caught up in heavy netting!

I have got a single hoop and tulle, it keeps the marterial away from my feet so I can walk with out having to kick. Go back to your bridal store and ask if they have some you can try with it. Need it before fittings as it will change the length.

I've bought a 3 ring hoop which then has 2 extra layers of tulle which makes it a 5 ring hoop apparently lol!
It made such a difference compared to the 2 ring hoop when walking as I kept kicking my dress and standing on the front lol!

You say you got your dress from an outlet shop and can't go into another bridal shop but I don't see why not. I'm looking for straps for my dress and dropped into another shop and they were very helpful and said I could bring my dress in to try straps with it. Perhaps if you call up before and explain that you have your dress but need an underskirt they would be happy to help as its still a sale for them and you might buy accessories too. The worst they can do is say no.

In terms of underskirt, remember to think of time of year as lots of extra kayers of tulle might get really hot! I think the ladies are right though about trying different ones on and seeing what suits. My hoop doesn't feel too stiff and just helps keep the shape of the train. X

I had a hoop and generally it didn't feel stiff at all. The only time I noticed it was coming downstairs at the house where I got ready.

I have a 2 hooped peticoat and my dress is so much better with it. I was constantly kicking it out from around my feet.

It cost £45 but my best mate bought it for me

No worries. Its always worth asking if they will help you out. Mine was £50 and has a kind of triangle of material behind to hold the train out. X
