I am on the verge of changing my wedding venue and don't know what to do. We were going to book a castle in scotland then have a party back home the day after. Having added up the cost of both venues plus considering the inconvenience of guests travelling up from Yorkshire, I'm wondering if it would be simpler and less stressful (not to mention cheaper) to have it all in one place. Any advice would be appreciated!!

Oh dear, its so hard to make these decisions, but you should go for what you want, not whats convienent, as its your day and your only going to do it once, you dont want to spend your life wishing that you had done it exactly how you want it. People dont mind travelling.

if you could afford to do both and its what you really want then I would say do both. However, if its going to be a struggle and you could have just as nice day in one place then do that. Sorry that probably hasn't helped much lol x

Thanks for your help!! I was so looking forward the the castle but now I just don't get excited, my friend said it's because I haven't found the right place yet and will know once I find it. I think we'll hold off booking anything and visit a couple of places. It's hard because it's my second time but my h2b's first so he wants the whole thing, but I'm quite happy having the day for us. I also think it will be more relaxing in one place, with a chance to spend some time together rather than dashing back from scotland for the party!

I think keep your options open, and visit a few more places. Choose what feels right to the both of you and not just a place for convenience. Even though its your 2nd time, its still a special time and you deserve it to be perfect! good luck x

We're from Leeds and are getting married in Gretna. We're just inviting close family (18 to 20 of us) to the wedding - and having a reception meal at the hotel restaurant then the hotel bar for the evening. We're considering waiting til we get back from honeymoon to have a bigger party in Leeds (with buffet) for family, friends, work colleagues etc.
