Hi everyone I'm hoping for advice!

I'm a bride on a budget! We are pulling a wedding together in 9 months and we only have a small budget, I'm lucky enough to of got my venue ( close enough to what I could of hoped for ) for only £650 ! However the ceremony is outside in the woods which is as I wanted it and nothing wrong here but the evening party is in the venue's large hall, they have a marquee style curtains along the roof and walls and I've negotiated a blinder of a deal with a guy for some up lighters.
But our theme is ' enchanted forest' and while in working on the centre pieces ( ivy round fishbowls with lights and a large purple thistle like flower in the bowls ) I'm a bit stuck on the other decor, other events I've seen at the locations have included banners and flags pinned into the marquee esk sides - I had hoped for bunting ( in the shape of stars -) however the curtains aren't able to hold any weight as they are just hung across wire ...
So I wondered if anyone could think of anything that I could use to help decorate the room and make it feel a bit more foresty and magical

If you have a laptop and a projector, maybe you could project images onto the walls of a night time forest or something?

Or have sprayed branches in cement pots in front of the wall coverings, if you have room?

    Xx

Kel Bel good idea get some flowers that hang like poision ivy and have them raped or wrapped round the curtains in the colour you want there has got to be a large variety of hanging flower you could use to create your enchanted forest you want need to look around homebase and garden centres im sure if you talk to them they will hook you up =D <3 X

If you had some small trees (or branches in pots), you could hang the star bunting between these. You could have large pictures pinned to the curtains, like some fairies, or a toadstool ring etc. I love the sound of your theme :)

Someone posted once that you can hire trees in pots from garden centres' that way you could have fairy lights and lanterns in them inside your venue? :-)

Oh wow, sounds similar to the theme I want! Are you having a registrar there or doing that bit separately? I'm hoping to actually find a venue in the middle of nowhere, but the official stuff has to be done at a registry office :( Shrubbery, silk, ribbons and fairy lights :) Wings at the evening do?

thanks for all the replies :-)

im going to check out some garden centres and see if they can lend me trees in pots etc, i hadnt though of actually trying to get ivy pinned on the curtains but that may work and im definetly thinking of trying to get the star bunting hung between the trees somehow

were doing the registrar bit on the friday with just me and fh and two friends and were going in ordinary clothes and putting no significance on that part, on the saturday of the wedding were actually using a forest on the grounds to hold our ceremony with our vows and we have a friend who is going to lead the ceremony.

i want to wear wings but the mother in law will kill me, even though she basically has nothing to do with the wedding i have to respect her views (supposedly)

Its your wedding TallulahS wear what you want and feel comfortable in Its your Wedding not your mother in laws wedding so what you say goes and if you are going for a enchanted forest wedding your wings fit right in in the category fairy tale sprites fairy's pixies =D <3 X

Do you have any children going?? Maybe they could dress up as fairies. Failing that you could get cardboard cut outs!!! Sounds a magical theme :-)

Aw cool. That's what my friend did, registry office date has no significance to them, just the handfasting date (midsummer). She made everyone wear wings for the evening and it was amazing! (My wings were a tad lethal though, I had to be slightly restrained in my actions ha!) If you want to, do it. You can limit it to the bridal party maybe?

Ivy should be easy enough to come by - I'm having it as the main theme for mine. In plentiful supply around here :) Stringing up the bunting shouldn't be too hard for you either, I imagine it'll look lovely!

The woodland sounds just wonderful! I always imagined my ideal place as a forest clearing, but still searching.
