As requested from other thread, here's pictures of my dress that I ordered from China, I absolutely love it and can't wait to wear it! Is really well made, I did the made to measure and its perfect. Forgot to wear heels when I took the pictures so it doesn't hang as well as it does when I have them on so ignore that but hopefully you can get the idea. Have also put the pics on my profile along with the picture from the website so you can compare what I saw and what I got...its spot on x

I got mine online from china and I love it! I highly recommend it, however I would advise to go to your local bridal shops first to try on dresses. I had my heart set on one for years, I tried one on very similar and it just does not suit my shape at all! I tried on a dress I loved but £800 well over my budget, found one the same, but better! It is lace up and beaded and floaty and lovely all for just £82!!!! well under! arrived in 2 weeks, could have had it custom made for only £12 but didn't need to! It is in my wardrobe now, just needs to be taken in a bit as I am losing weight but that's all!

Can someone please provide me the link for "she who cannot be named" please and thank you. Would like to consider her for bridesmaid dresses.

I am ordering my bridal dress from a china seller on the bay as soon as I decide on shoe height for measurements. I will give updates as and when.

Can anyone recommend someone other than she who cant be named please, I have my heart set on this dress (in this colour) for my bridesmaids but unfortunately she who cant be named doesn't have anything close.
I either need to go elsewhere to get them made or change my colour scheme

I've just received my order of 5 BM dresses from the box of light. They've arrived 3 weeks after ordering and are absolutely perfect! I love them! They're exactly what I wanted and the quality is great. Only downside is by the time postage and customs gets added on they're not really a bargain anymore! Face value had them priced at £61 each but once all the postage and customs we're added on they've worked out at £90 each. Still not bad for a dress and shrug!
    Would definitely recommend this site!

Whats the average for customs tax on BM dresses from China? Does it vary or is it a set amount? xx

From what I found online yesterday, it seemed to me as though it should be 12% of the total price - there are different commodity codes, so for dresses, the commodity code I found said 12%. There would be different commodity codes for shoes, jewellery, etc..

It seems though that this isn't actually the case as people seem to be getting charged more than 12% :/

Could maybe find out if I rang them? Seriously look into getting your own customs clearance done.....you'll need to find out if its being sent in container by vessel (depending of if a large supplier with multiple orders to the UK) or if they will be sent via airfreight first xx

Those of you that have ordered your bridesmaid dresses from china did you go for the standard sizes (8/10/12/etc) or made to measure?
I am thinking of paying the extra for made to measure but I'm wondering how accurate they are, I'd be gutted if I paid more only to then have to pay for more alterations if they don't fit.

I went for a standard size.. the seller I used provided the measurements so I was able to see what size I needed. I did however order 1 size up just in case.. would rather get them taken in than risk them being too small!! x

I didn't realise it at the time I bought them but the bridesmaids dresses I got actually turned out to be coming from China. Initially I was freaking out thinking something was going to go wrong. Thankfully, nothing did. They arrived and are all good. We didn't order custom sizes though but instead ordered a size bigger for everyone so the dresses could be taken in. Overall. Very happy.

It's no problem :) the only part that annoyed me was the customs fee of £89 which the website I ordered from advertise they refund so I just contacted them and they processed the refund for the fee. So just a heads up if that happens. I ordered mine from JJ$ H@use

Our previous dresses were from China & they were standard sizes, the quality was amazing!! They were lined, boned, had a sewn in bra, etc, unfortunately I didn't like the colour or the style of dress (strapless) 100%, although it looked exactly as pictured, just me being fussy.
Hopefully these other dresses are perfect, fingers crossed!! They are very similar dresses just the old one was strapless & the new one isn't. This time I ordered lots of fabric swatches beforehand so should have the correct colour.

The picture I took of my bridemaid is quite pants!! The pleating across the bust doesn't show in my pic but it is there.

I will update the pics for comparison once the dresses arrive :)

Hi, how do you break it to your BMs that you will be buying online?
It's so much cheaper and considering using some of the sellers you have used because you are happy with quality etc but I'm really not sure how by BMs will react to this..

I still went with my BMS to bridal shops to try on dresses to make sure they were happy with the dresses. And my girls are paying for their own dresses so we're very happy not to have to pay £150+ per dress. And I would think none of them would have any quarrel of where you but then from if your paying specially when the quality is just as good.

Emily who will be paying for the dresses you or them?
If it's you then you don't need to explain anything to them, I would still go to some shops to get an idea of what suits them though.
If there paying I'd imagine it would be no issue either as it will be a lot cheaper for them.

See, I've budgeted enough to buy high St dresses for mine. £100 each but I know both BMs will have something to say about buying them online especially my sister moh. I'm paying for it. And at the moment, it's all I'm paying for. I thought that if I buy online then I can afford to buy their shoes too.

their hair and makeup is up to them. I'm having my sister do my hair but my mom will have hers done so if they want it too I don't mind as long as they pay. Makeup I'm going to b00ts and getting them to do it for free so no cost to me again. If they want theirs done its up to them but at their cost.

Because of this I feel a bit tight towards them but if I can't afford my own I can't afford theirs. That's why I thought if I can get online and afford to buy them shoes it will be a bit better..

I'm also nervous because h2b banned me at looking at wedding dresses because of the scare stories but then I read all your comments about good dresses and think if I use one of them then at lease know the quality will be good

    Arghhhh sorry do long

If you order on eb@y & go for a standard size ie 10, 12, 14, etc, if you don't like it you can return it. Where as if you go for made to measure its not so easy to return. The standard size dresses that I got fit perfect except the length, so would have needed to pay for them to be hemmed, they were corset back so could be tied tighter or looser for a better fit.

On a slight downside I have just been hit with a £79 vat charge grrrr. But that works out about £25 peer dress so takes it up to about £90 so still way less than the £185/£250 that it would of cost me from a shop.
