Wedding Forum - Groom watching the bride walk down the...

Ok, so my mum says its bad luck for the groom to look at the bride before she gets to the end of the aisle? Is this true or is she just having me on? I was quite looking forwards to seeing my H2B's face as I walked down the aisle xx

I've not heard of this one ... Dan was turned around looking at me as I walked in, and same for all the grooms of the weddings that I've been to that I can remember. Bit unfair on him isn't it? To be the last one to see her, and then he won't get the full effect of the dress, all he'll be looking at is her face xx

Things being good/bad luck is purely superstition and, as with all superstitions, means absolutely nothing unless you believe in it.

You can tell I'm not a big fan of superstitions!

I think this is in the similar vein as having the veil covering the bride's face so the groom doesn't even get to see her until the ceremony is over and can't run away if he doesn't like the look of her.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Your H2B loves you - just try and STOP him looking at you as you walk down the aisle!

i hadnt heard of this, but if h2b doesnt look at me while walking down the aisle i will be so annyed and upset xx

Tbh I think that one was invented by the fellas just so then they didn't have a cry!! My husband cried (hopefully because he was happy lol) and he watched me walk down, saw him have a bug slushy sigh too lol x

adam has decided he wont look at me as i walk down the aisle, purely because its traditional for the groom not to. Although I'd rather he did look at me but its his choice. To be honest i dont think he'll be able not to anyway!

You need to see his face - it's a really romantic special time that walk down the aisle and tradition or not, I think he should enjoy it all the way x

Hmmm I hope he looks at me! But then I got thinking that what if other people catch my eye walking up? Family and friends? Where do I look!?!? lol x

If it was alright for Prince William to have a cheeky glance back I'd say its alright for our H2Bs!!!

He has been kept in suspense and not being allowed to see the dress, so im sure he will want to be the 1st, otherwise he will be the last to see the dress in its full glory with his W2B inside walking down the aisle, to me that would be horrid if my W2B wasnt the 1st to see my dress properly as it was meant to be seen

Im wondering if the tradition is such due to Women are supposed to Walk behind their Husband once married, such as the wife used to say "obey" well sod that, No way would i insist my W2B to say "Obey" and its a deffo I will not "Obey"

i want david to see me walking down the aisle. Its a rubbish superstition that means nothing unless you believe in it. :)

my H2B has said if i take my time comin down the isle he's gonna lift his kilt lol a'l be draggin me dad down if he does lol

i dont give a $hit david better turn to watch me walk down isle or ill walk bac out till he does turn round :@ a marriage isnt gunna fail cause hubby turns round to watch the bride or cause u dont wear white or cause u dont spend the niht before the wedding apart ooofffft x

I heard this but I told him to look. I'm going to all that effort of getting up early and having my hair and makeup done if he couldn't get the full effect at the start of the day. Plus I think its much nicer. I personally think it seems rude if he doesn't look, kind of like he's not bothered about seeing you!!

I don't think any groom can resist looking back at his bride!

and I think that as a superstition it is completely outdated, as like many things it probably roots back to being snached my evil spirits!

Personally I will be rather annoyed if my h2b doesnt look around! and i think you should follow your heart and if you are looking forward to him looking round enjoy it :)

I cant say Ive heard that one before, think she is having you on for sure, like ClareE my H2b better turn round and look at me too as im heading down the aisle lol.
