Ok, so my mum says its bad luck for the groom to look at the bride before she gets to the end of the aisle? Is this true or is she just having me on? I was quite looking forwards to seeing my H2B's face as I walked down the aisle xx

I've not heard of this one ... Dan was turned around looking at me as I walked in, and same for all the grooms of the weddings that I've been to that I can remember. Bit unfair on him isn't it? To be the last one to see her, and then he won't get the full effect of the dress, all he'll be looking at is her face xx

Things being good/bad luck is purely superstition and, as with all superstitions, means absolutely nothing unless you believe in it.

You can tell I'm not a big fan of superstitions!

I think this is in the similar vein as having the veil covering the bride's face so the groom doesn't even get to see her until the ceremony is over and can't run away if he doesn't like the look of her.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Your H2B loves you - just try and STOP him looking at you as you walk down the aisle!

adam has decided he wont look at me as i walk down the aisle, purely because its traditional for the groom not to. Although I'd rather he did look at me but its his choice. To be honest i dont think he'll be able not to anyway!

It did used to be traditional for the groom not to look at the bride but if I remember correctly this was the origin of the veil. The thought behind it was that the groom wasn't truly looking at the bride (veils used to be a lot thicker) so it wasn't bad luck...this is what my Nan told me when I was younger anyway. Hope it helped xxx

lol well everyone would be looking at you obviously but I think I am just going to concentrate on H2B. Generally people don't wave or distract you when walking down the aisle anyway so I wouldn't worry too much about this plus they would understand if you were to engrossed in your hubby to respond to them. Don't stress!! X

My W2B will be the 1st down the Aisle, I will telling her to Keep looking forward at the registrar so she dont get overcome with emotions, which she probably will do.
Then I will enter, and She better be turned around looking at me for the 1st time in around 7hrs of being apart, I will be looking straight at her, This will be 1st time ever i have seen her in a dress let alone made up to look even more beautiful than she already is xx

Thanks girls xx Im also like that "Soon2bMrsS" I broke down at my aunties funeral, god knows what I be like on my day lol

I recon your H2B's will deffo want to see you walk down the Aisle

He has been kept in suspense and not being allowed to see the dress, so im sure he will want to be the 1st, otherwise he will be the last to see the dress in its full glory with his W2B inside walking down the aisle, to me that would be horrid if my W2B wasnt the 1st to see my dress properly as it was meant to be seen

Im wondering if the tradition is such due to Women are supposed to Walk behind their Husband once married, such as the wife used to say "obey" well sod that, No way would i insist my W2B to say "Obey" and its a deffo I will not "Obey"

The superstition is more focused now on not seeing the bride before she walks down the aisle but I think it's more for that WOW factor than believing it's bad luck. I definately want Gav to watch me walk down the aisle. I know i'm either gonna cry, go bright red or be grinning like an idiot =p Gav thinks it's going to be all 3!!

I heard this but I told him to look. I'm going to all that effort of getting up early and having my hair and makeup done if he couldn't get the full effect at the start of the day. Plus I think its much nicer. I personally think it seems rude if he doesn't look, kind of like he's not bothered about seeing you!!

I don't think any groom can resist looking back at his bride!

and I think that as a superstition it is completely outdated, as like many things it probably roots back to being snached my evil spirits!

Personally I will be rather annoyed if my h2b doesnt look around! and i think you should follow your heart and if you are looking forward to him looking round enjoy it :)

I've not heard it before, but if I did I'd probably ignore it anyway. In fact, the only reason we're not seeing each other prior to the ceremony (i.e. travelling up there together) is because my parents believe it'll be bad luck.
I'll still be sending him sneaky texts, I think. That is, if my MoH doesn't catch me and hide my phone, lol!
