So I lost a bit of weight and my ring needed re-sizing really - I like it loose but it was getting too loose. So I took it to GSmths and they at first said it could be done, then they all had a chat and said it probably cant be taken small enough they might be able to do 1 size and then the sizing balls be put it. So I sent it away - almost 3 weeks ago now and they have told us they cant even take it down one size because the diamonds may fall out on the arms. I am gutted really - they suggested they would make a new ring for £1250! my h2b paid 1700 new and we saw it in the sale last weekend at 1,199 so why would I pay for my ring to be re-made with the same diamonds and gold?! Then she has quoted me £225 for 2 tiny balls of gold to be added to make it slightly smaller and for a re-dip which should have been included in the guarantee h2b paid on it.
He is annoying and upsetting me because he is implying when I chose it, it was too loose and I should choose a different ring and buy new. My ring is a kiss ring so proving difficult to get a wedding band I love to go with it. I dont want a different ring, I just want my ring back :(

Definitely try an independent jeweller. I have my great-grandmother's wedding ring, which had been converted into a man's signet ring. I had it resized and reshaped, and I think she pretty much melted it down, given that she said the two golds of different carats would be mixed together. It only cost £150. Ask around and see if you can get any recommendations.

30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

Agree with the above. I work for a jewellery wholesalers and there is a risk that the stones will come out if they re-size it but they shouldn't have told you could do it if they knew they couldn't!
