Since I booked my venue I have been having a debate with myself over whether I should have chair covers or not. Everyone I have asked has said they look ok without but I just don't know. We don't really have the budget to add chair covers to it but I just don't know if they look right without. I like that they are slightly heart shaped and even though they won't match my colour scheme I don't mind the colour, but on the other hand I feel like if I leave them bare it will ruin the look of the rest of the room! I have added pictures of what they look like with and without covers. Just for extra info we are having an evening only wedding reception with a buffet.

I like the look of both! Maybe could have just sashes without covers as a compromise? Ivory sashes might look nice with the green? xx

You know, sometimes less is more and in my own personal opinion, chair covers are too formal and common at weddings these days. You don't have to have them completely covered but could add your own detail to them. I think they look lovely without. I'm not having chair covers but having chiavari chairs instead and will decorate them with a little something instead.

What's your colour scheme? Could you incorporate the green in somehow?
I am having chair covers & sashes because our venues chairs are ugly!! It's in a school so they have basic folding chairs, seriously they need hiding under covers lol
CommentAuthorMrsEmmaP
My colour scheme is lilac/purple and white so not really. I just don't know if they could be left or not, I would have the white table cloths with probably fish bowl & flowers centre pieces. I'm not sure if I'd want to just get sashes I think if I was going for them I'd get the covers too but don't want to get either if I can really help it.
I'm not sure if it would look ok without because I am not having a very formal wedding (buffet only) so it would be dark for the whole time anyway.

I honestly don't think it would silly or too bare leaving them as they are. Like you say, it would be quite dark anyway and it's not a formal three course meal where you would traditionally expect the covers and sashes. I think they look fine.. green goes with purple anyway, have seen lots of brides incorporating greens and purples together xx

I don't of anyone who has looked back and been like that wedding was horrible because there was no chair covers. The only reason I'm having chair covers is our venue supplies them at no additional cost, else it would not bother me.

I'd say you don't need chair covers - how many of these chairs will be covered by men's jackets, ladies shawls etc? Will you end up missing that covers are not there or would you rather spend the money on something else? We didn't have chair covers, just the sashes (the chairs were all mismatched anyway) which we made ourselves simply but cutting organza rolls (from £6 to £11 per roll, got 6 lengths per roll) and tying them in a bow on the chair. It can be easy to get carried away with thinking that we 'need' all these things but we don't really... It's not as though anyone is going to notice I shouldn't have thought - all eyes will be on you :-)

I don't think it's an expense you need to be worrying about, they look fine without and will compliment your colour scheme. I really don't think the chairs will be something anyone will notice or remember.
CommentAuthorMrsEmmaP
Thanks ladies! I think I will keep them without, it is an expense I really don't need, I am sure nobody will notice, it's not something I'll be thinking of during the day and it will be dark so they will hardly be seen anyway :) they could be worse chairs too I guess! x

We had covers, but we didn't really need them as the venue chairs were lovely. The sashes are a nice addition to your colour scheme though
CommentAuthorFlossie
I think the above post sums it up really. Nice addition, but not necessary and can do without :)

At the moment I'm thinking I'll go without, but when I go to pay the next lot of money I might have another look at the room and see how I feel then :) thanks ladies! x

You can always wait and see what happens with your budget as well before you make a final decision. You might make a saving in another area and free up more budget for chair covers if you feel like you want them! x

I quite like chair covers and sashes, so personally I would. But it's completely up to you :)

We're not having chair covers, I think it's something that people don't always notice, if it's evening only especially a it'll be darker. But the chairs look good without and so if they look ok without then save the extra cost :)
CommentAuthorAprilS61
Personally I like that we are having chair covers, but we got them included so thats probably why and only having to fund £1 per sash from another company.
However in your case, I think they look absolutely fine without covers! I like the kind of sweetheart top of them too. Also, lilac and that green will absolutely go and will compliment each other well. If though as Flossie says you find you have extra money left over at the end you could look into it later if you've not settled on the idea of them without. x

id day no covers personally and as few have suggested, have white sashes (not organza ones) that would tie it in. otherwise look to maybe renting your covers, if find theyre cheaper than buying them.x
CommentAuthorVelcro
there is more colour without, i think you have got lucky with those chairs as they look really nice and compliment the set up, i almost think the chair covers, in comparison look plain
i think sashes over uncovered chairs might look abit odd though

If you're happy with the colour and style of chairs without covers and it'll go with the theme of your wedding then u won't need the. We had to have them at ours as we had the bigger barn so chairs weren't very nice in there. The chairs were nicer in the smaller one but only enough for that room x
