I am hoping to make all our invites, table numbers, name place cards, favours, seating plan etc but im a bit stuck on where to buy things and also does anyone have any hints and tips on printing? We have a decent printer at home but will this be good enough? or should I make up what possible and take it to a printers? is the cost fairly reasonable for having them printed?
(now I know we cant display full websites etc but any links could perhaps be posted on my wall)
Main thing im after at the moment is what type of guillotine did you all buy?
Xx

We are making everything ourself too and for the save-the-dates we got a lot of stuff on the internet, also in Hobbycraft. Depending on your theme what you could do is use your own printer, but print it on really nice paper - we picked up some very rustic, old book-like paper with real flower buds pressed into it (our theme is literature so this worked quite well).

We're having a go at making our own invitations.. I'm using work's printer and work's paper ;) I'm just printing everything onto standard paper (although it is 180gsm), but have a background so that instead of looking like they've just been printed on white paper they look like they have been printed onto old fashioned style paper. We're going to back the paper onto thick cream card (which I bought really cheap from 3b@y or @m@zon, can't remember which, but it's worth looking on there) and are going to put lace trim round the edges (from 3b@y, really cheap from China) - might get some hessian as well. We're having 3 or 4 inserts and are tying them together into a 'parcel' using twine (again, very cheap from China!) xx

There lovely Flossie! love your idea, I was looking at gatefold invites held closed with ribbon and a crystal embellishment, the ribbon will go through the crystal part if you know what I mean and will have various inserts, what size are you doing your invites? I think I might need to go looking at sizing first so I know what I want and then order, found a decent seller on the bay of gatefold invites and they have all the inserts to xx

I know what you mean - that sounds lovely :) might even be a better idea for us to do it that way to keep everything together a bit more rather than having lose bits and bobs everywhere!
We were thinking the biggest would be the actual invitation itself on A5, then everything else gradually decreasing in size (although not too small!).. I had a play about with the custom page sizes on Word and printed out a few testers just to see.. I think it's going to just be trial and error when it actually comes to printing them, but once you've got it perfect for one batch at least you will know the others are going to be just right! x

Yeah I was thinking A5 aswell then all the inserts will reduce in size too, then need to think of RSVP's! Are you putting stamps on your RSVP's?
Yeah think will be a lot of playing about with blank card and paper to get the template right then go with the actual invites, I have been looking at stamp to emboss the envelopes to! xx

And another question are you sending a simplified version of your day invites to your evening guests? xx

Nope no stamps on RSVPs - people are welcome to post if they like, but we're expecting most people to RSVP via email/text etc. or even just verbally so not bothering with envelopes and stamps :)
Not really thought about the evening invites yet, but yes possibly... :) x

Yeah I was thinking the same people can contact me or hand back to a family member etc
I think I might just do the evening invite as the insert with the details I think the gate fold idea is more special for daytime guests and then makes them different to the evening invites
I have nothing on this weekend so might nip to ho88y cr@ft and get some bits and piece and have a play about with ideas then I can be set on size and order online xx

Yeah I agree, gatefold for day guests but not evening :)
To be honest there's not many ways we can change ours. Will probably just condense the information down so there are less inserts - if I can get all the information on one insert that might be better and easier.
Good luck with your playing about and experimenting!! Can't wait to see them when they're finished xx

I have been looking online and going to order some samples of invites to see what there like.
Once I've had a go ill post some pics xx

i have got the card cheap offline and have noticed that a lot of websites will do the inserts really cheap so might order them so printed on nice paper and already cut to size. then just going to do rest of decoration myself. definately order free samples off websites as gives good idea of different designs and paper etc xxx

I've seen a lovely invite sample on P1nt3r3st a couple of months ago. So I've decide to make them myself. I'm making the outside and printing the inserts on pr1nt3d.c0m :) Gonna upload the invite photos to my album (both the inspiration and the one I've made). I found some nice papers on bay of e and am4z0n. Had a bif of problems with ribbon and lace. I've got everything here in Brazil, but I'm sure I could find everything there :)
