Anyone else designing their own cake from scratch? I know exactly what I want (I'm v. fussy!) but nowhere has what I'm looking for, so the cake company have said to try and find pictures, but I thought of just doing a sketch of what I really want for them to have a look at.

I never wanted an 'off the shelf' cake design, wanting it to be unique :P I'll post a pic of the sketch once I'm finished with it, which may be a while :P

hi rachel I have designed my own cake and drawn it. luckily its my nan that is making it but i'm sure if you draw it and explain in as much detail about it then they should be able to do it.

I'm having a heart shaped 3 tier chocolate cake with chocolate fingers around the edge and chocolate fudge filling. then icing roses all around the top edges and all over the top cake in ivory and lilac.

what is your design like? x

Your cake sounds lovely :) chocolate fingers make everything awesome :D I've put a pic in my album showing roughly what I want. My markers started running out so the colours aren't great :/ xx

Where do you live? I know of a good cake maker (?) who does your own designs. They are based in Pickering, Yorkshire though. Not sure if it is too much of a trek to get there for you!

looks like a decent cake shop should be able to make you that easily... go find yourself a noce cake stand for it and you'll be sorted!

are you having fresh or sugar flowers on the cake?

@shannon.sinclair lol I'm in Edinburgh, so a little bit of a trek!
@feebee yeah I'm thinking fondant, they're from a music video so I doubt I could get them in plastic unless I knock them up myself :P

I don't know about fresh or sugar, when I spoke to the cake lady she said sugar would be a lot more expensive. I'm having an artificial bouquet, so I might just buy extra and let her use them instead...
