What venues did you all go for?

I am also finding it has slowed down a little, i'm concentrating on little things like the layout of the invites (I am making full pocketfold invites myself all from scratch so it takes some time.
Rings and anything to do with clothing I am leaving closer to the time as I want some weight off first.
Table names haven't been selected yet even though we know the theme (castle names).
I have a rough table plan and guestlist but this will keep changing until the final confirmation when save the dates are sent other then that I am at a bit of a loss..

    boo hoo :(

Lyndsey so glad you have booked the car what did you go for in the end?

Hi Wizbit, we have gone for a local hotel that is beautiful on the interior. And I wouldn't worry about things slowing down we are saving up a bit of money before we start to book things in again.
So far we have got the wedding insurance (if you haven't sorted this yet its a priority), the church, the venue, a horse and carriage and photographer. I also found my dress few weeks back its my motivation to lose weight. I have done my save the dates and also done a rough seating plan from the guest list just due to a few people not getting along so well.
We don't have a set theme but will be naming our tables from our favorite books.
You will know your venue when you find it go and look at a range of different ones and then when you find one that meets all your requirements such as numbers and menu style then that will help you choose.

    Stacey I have a 1930's R011s R0yc3. It's gorgeous!

Wizbit we have chosen a hotel. It's very pretty and offered an amazing package. So far we have the venue, insurance, photographer, cake, car, my dress and provisionally booked the registrar. Things are slowly down now but next year we can concentrate on the finer details.

Awesome news on the car Lynsey!

Our venue is a manor house, beautiful setting, and the rooms are amazing. The bridal suite has a round bath, which fits 4 people in- we tried it out when we went to visit the venue- as you do! Because we went for their winter package, we have use of the venue the day before. My brother and SIL are expecting their second baby (due 12th October this year, by c-section) and if all goes to plan she will be 2 the day before our wedding so OH and I have decided we will do a little surprise birthday party for her.

Think I've done all I'm going to do for this year then next year hit the planning and booking hard!

Busy weekend ahead will have to wait for the spring shows.

Afternoon ladies. Not been on for a while been bogged down with college work. Well I said yes to the dress yesterday. The place I got it from were having a thing called make us an offer on their sale dresses so was planning on doing that but couldn't see anything. So I had also saw a dress online that the store do and I knew h2b liked it as I asked him what he thought of it. (been doing that a lot with dresses lol). So thought If I don't get a sale dress I would go for the 1 I knew h2b liked but I didn't get that 1 either. I ended up with 1 that my daughter picked. In the store they gave me 5 pegs and told me to peg them to the labels on the dress so I gave my daughter a peg and my son a peg and they both picked a dress as well as the 3 I picked. So love the 1 I went for even went for a matching veil which I was adamant I wasn't getting. Got a discount so with the hoop, dress & veil I'm only £85 more that what the dress should have cost me. Cant wait to go back for my measurements and try it on again as I'm hoping to get pics of it this time. They said because I'm not until 2018 I could pay 25% deposit and then the other 25% in 3 months time when they will measure me & then order it. Now what I loved about the dress most was its a store sample AND they could fasten it on me so I really did get to see just how good it would look on me. I'm a size 18 so was very worried about it but when I saw it fastened with the veil that was the one. Now just kilts & rings and we are sorted lol xx

I'm waiting on my new save the dates arriving. The company I originally got them from have been sending me samples of a completely different design form what I originally wanted. After receiving the originals and the design being not up to a standard you would expect I have chosen a completely different design which I love and have received the samples and all is good. So once they arrive we will get them sent out with xmas cards. xx

My save the dates were sent out July/August time. We have just started the invitation design. As we are going to make the invitations ourselves we thought it would be a good idea to start getting the initial design/wording decided on now ready for the finer details like time and RSVP date next year.

We need to decide on the design for the invitations, my sister has kindly volunteered to make my invites for me as I'm not very crafty. She has a wedding booked in for next year and will be working on it until about April so planning on giving her all the materials she needs then as the most basic info can go in now like time, date, venue etc. I spotted in the rang3 the other day they have packs of the pocket fold invites in there.

We sent our save the dates out in August, and although I am not sending formal invitations until around September next year I am struggling to find some I like and within budget. I'm finding them to be a bit pricey so think I am going to try make them myself. Luckily my MOH has also offered to help as my fiancé knows his ones won't be up to my standards ha x

Kathleen we couldn't get the invites we wanted unless we wanted to spend a small fortune so decided to DIY. We have started getting the materials together and it's costing about £95 for all our invitations.

i have my save the dates sitting at Home, I feel like a crazy person sending them out so early so I have been debating sending them in May, all the websites I have read have said save the dates a year before then invites 4-6 months beforehand so that people don't forget and don't lose them! I am so confused!
On a nice note I am much more chuffed to say that I have said yes to the dress at the NEC show, it was completely unexpected as we didn't really look at dresses as I was so convinced it was too far away. I have gone for an ****@1fr3d @ng310 dress from a shop in Stoke which is about 2 hours away but its tonnes cheaper not being in Oxfordshire! I think I have also decided to get my wedding ring from a company in Birmingham Jewellery Quarter, they had some lovely samples at the show and can make them to specification for amazing prices so definitely worth a look!
I am making all my invites myself in Poketfold style, so far I have bought and cut all the card outers so the pocket fold is made and the SIL is helping me make the invites as she is a Whiz on the computer with creative things!

not sure I have too much else that I can do right now, which is a bit sad as I am loving it lol

so lovely to see lots of you making more plans and finding items for the big day. xx

Can I ask for some help,, my save the dates,, I wanted to put a card with them saying something along the lines of " if you know you can't make this date please let us know before the main invites gomout" obviously not worded quite as harshly lol, but because all of my invites are handmade pocketfold they are expensive and time consuming so I don't want to waste any.. is this something anyone else is doing or am I just going to have to bite th3 bullet and such up that I need more invites.. :( x

Hi Wizbit, I haven't put anything like that on mine but you would hope people would have the common courtesy to let you know. We have sent ours out now as it is a bank holiday weekend and the weekend before a half term (if we have worked it out right).

You could pop something on like: we would love for everyone to share in our special day but understand that sometimes people can't please let us know if you will be unable to attend. Many Thanks.

That is just a rough idea of course.

That's a lovely way of phrasing it!!
its only because I am literally making the entire paperfold myself including all inserts etc that they are quite time consuming and costly to make. I was going to make a little card with the wedding website on it anyway just so people have access to the site and all information they need straight away. not that its finished yet lol!

its nice to know you have sent your Save dates already I wasn't sure when to send mine so was thinking after xmas so they don't get lost in all the xmas post :)x

    Hi Nikita,

We have set our date for 14th September 2018. I have also been wondering when to start booking things etc. Most my friends that are already married have basically all told me the same "book the venue ASAP" most of my top venues are already booked for our date. Once our venue is booked we are going to sit back a little and just gather ideas slowly (going to take will power). I'm going to start looking for my dress feb/march time next year.

New years eve 2018 will be even more emotional - I'm just wishing time away all the while now I want the wedding to be sooner! We had brought it more forward then we were planning when we first got engaged but still wanted to give ourselves time to pay for it all.

Aww how lovely Emma. WE are having our niece as a flower girl at ours but she will be 5 by the time the date comes - she is very excited about being a flower princess and keeps asking for her dress now ha

I don't have any for specific china sites, I have heard some great reviews for a seller on the bay called sw33th3art2115 i think it is as they keep some of the stock in the UK. I found mine on pr3l0v3d managed to get three the right size and colour just need to get the bridesmaids to try them on to see if they like them.
