Bought my daughters bridesmaid dress today. Decided to take a chance and bought a size bigger than she is. Fingers crossed she doesn't grow too much in the next 11 months!

It's not coming up Hun. I don't think you can search for secret groups, I think you have to be invited to them.

Lynsey I would of thought it will be fine. We have done the same for our flower girls.

Still no invoice from venue decorater and still no new reception venue. I'm getting really impatient now I need to know what I'm going to be paying out so I can budget my money.

How old's your daughter Lynsey, dresses normally have some room to make alterations check the seams on the inside that will tell you how much room you have to work with.

Tiffany, that's really not good you still have no invoice maybe call, ask how she is doing and explain you would like to know how much it is going to be if she can't supply the invoice just yet.

    Hello everyone,

I'm new to UKBride, and new to this forum too. My name is Collette and It's great to see a lovely community of brides-to-be.

Wow, some of you have been planning a 2018 wedding for sometime!

I only seriously started planning a couple of months ago lol.

I put own a deposit on a venue just a couple of months ago for August 2018. Me and my fiance have been engaged since January 2016.

I'm about to scour the forums to read up on handy things to help keep everything under budget. Can anyone please recommend any handy threads they are aware of? With Forums I tend to get overwhelmed and frustrated when I can't find what I'm looking for. If anyone can point me in the direction of some good threads that help with budgeting, simple decoration ideas etc that would be awesome.

    Thanks in advance x

    Hi Collette,
Welcome to the site and the 2018 group.

Official mod threads are a great place to start especially for ideas and pictures. You can use the category search to find them all. The main rules are no website links and no brand names other than that its a great place for ideas and support.

I've seen some people are planning weddings for 2020 and beyond that. I suppose its whenever you feel ready to start planning.

Hi! I've been planning for nearly a year and it's flown by!

I think the girls have covered the main things for searching but I would recommend writing your guest list and list of priorities for you and your h2b.

Nice to see another Welsh bride!

Welcome to the group Collette and congrats on setting your date!

Loving the fb group. It's lovely to see each others pictures, seems to make you all so much more real lmao (I know what I mean).

Invoice is almost ready to be sent. However her husband and child have been very poorly and obviously they take priority at the moment.

Church have confirmed the date change. I freaked out because we hadn't got anything like we did last year.

My auntie has said she will look at my flowers and change them to a poesy for me :)

Unsure if I should the page boys suits now or wait until next year. Both are our boys (our baby and my step son). H2B's eldest is 10 (will be 11) and he is a stick, still fits in 6-7yr clothes! Youngest is 14 months (will be 2 1/2) and is a chubby giant, in 18-24 months clothes.

Last night I asked my other bridesmaid to be BM - so exciting that I can finally start planning with my sister and friend- so I have 2 bridesmaids and OH has 1 bestman and 3 groomsman but They are all both our friends really so I really don't mind that he has more than me as I wouldn't want to ask people just for the sake of having to extra people!

We have most of he big hugs sorted- just need to work on flowers and room decor and then start the main invites- we have bits for it already- just need to work out the overall look- we aren't planning to send these out until November so still plenty of time!

All starting to get real now!

You ladies who have all your favours, seating plan etc already done make me feel so unorganised. I've still got no reception venue and its really worrying me now. No one seems to be getting back to me and I hate asking people all the time. How do I over come this?

Seating plan. Is it best to do a draft, then do the finial one when we get rsvp's. We have invited people from the other side of the world and it will cost £3000 for them to come to the wedding so neither us or them are 100% sure until a lot closer if they can come. Although at that price (or any tbh) we certainly would understand if they didn't come!

Same with order of service. Draft first until church approve it?

    Sorry for so many questions.

We arent going to do seating plan until we get rsvps back- with regards to order of service, as we are getting married in church will be guided by them with the necessity and what the order is and then just design this based of what they say and add in the hymns and readings

Managed to agree to head pieces for flower girls now. We have gone for number one. (in album on fb)

We have planned the design on the seating plan. And i use the planner on here and put everyone on as i add them to the guest list
It helps to see the dynamic on tables before you invite someone and have no idea where to put them. But nothing can be confirmed until rsvps come back.. im quite lucky.most of our guests are booking hotels with us so i can safely say they are coming and they havent even been sent invites yet haha

Well help from the h2b didn't go to plan. It ended with me in tears over the fact I can not find a hair style I like because my hair is too short for all the ones I do like. Stupid I know lol. His answer.....'just shove it in a bobble or buy a wig and shove your net curtain on. I'm not marrying your hair I'm marrying you. Wrap it in a bin bag for all I care.'

Thanks babe. As sweet as that is ment to be....it's not very helpful! He has the same answer for everything 'I'm not marrying such and such, I'm marrying you!' I know that but it still needs sorting.

It's like the inserts for the invites. 'Babe can you help me pick a design for the invites please?' ....'Just do plan ones they will only end up in the bin'. I know he has a point but still lol. I dread to think how our wedding would be if I let him plan it all. At least I know he wont be disappointed with anything.

Anyone else's h2b this helpful lol?

Got the favours for the babies today :D Just the big (and even bigger) kids to get for now. Still getting nagged at by my mum saying she doesn't see why we are bothering when we are having a sweet buffet.

Still laughing at the fact h2b called my veil a net curtain. Tbh my first one really does look like one lmao, my new one however is amazing!

I'm having accessory doubts. I went to see my sister in laws dress and tried on a gorgeous floral headband/ tiara. Now I'm seriously doubting my hair accessory.

I bought my veil off 3b@y and won't know if it goes with my dress until the summer. It was only £7 so if it's awful I haven't lost an awful lot of money.

Been experimenting with different hair styles and my old veil (didn't want the new one getting dirty lol) and found one I really like. It will still work if I have long hair as well! Decided on a messy bun and the veil coming out the bottom. (pics on fb)

Told mum to back off where the minor details were concerned today. I was nice about it. Told her as much as I love her and know she only wants my day to be perfect, she needs to stop nagging at me and worrying about the cost of the wedding. Nothing is set in stone and if we need to cut back on the less important bits then we will. To my surprise she then offered to help me look for favours on £b@y.

Person who is sorting the venue for us came back with some crushing news. We can not have the place we really wanted as they already have a wedding that day.

However he has a meeting with another venue h2b loves and it's next door to his nana's house that has acres of land and a lake! There is also a splash at the bottom of the road, nice quiet area as well (until we get there with the 50 kids lol). Venue has its own park/play area and we have full use of the grounds. We also get bridal suit free of charge :D

    I'm getting married on 16th June 2018.

Booked the venue, drawn up the guest list and that's about it so far. Met with 1 photographer, just need to meet with another and make a decision.

I've tried finding the group on FB but there's a few different ones. How do I know what the correct one is?? x

The meeting for the venue has been moved to tomorrow, so will know by tomorrow night how much it is going to cost. Been told max we can have for the sit down meal is 200!! Sod paying for that many lol 80 is going to cost us enough as it is lol.
Trying to find some good pictures of the venue to put on fb. Will have to take some of the lake etc with it being private property (h2b's Nan's).

H2B's family from the other side of the world have said there is a 90% chance they will not be attending the wedding. (They are coming down next month) Would it be rude to assume they will not be there and do the seating plan as if they are not coming? Will change it nearer time if they can come, there invite will be sent out 2 months before everyone else's so no risk of 'double booking' seats .

That's a fab idea Stacey thank you. This I why I love this group you all point out what should be so obvious lol. (I mean that in the nicest way possible!)

Been to local lingerie shop today and asked when best time to buy is. She advised waiting until I had lost the weight I want to lose and then buy. However I can go in anytime and try stuff on and even take my wedding dress in with me so I'm not wasting money on something that I can't even wear with my dress.

The pots I'm using to make the photo booth prop holders are just yoghurt pots however I spent 3 days painting over one to get it white just for my OH to point out its a plastic cover and it was white underneath haha

Haha that's something I would do. We wasn't going to have any photo props or anything like that but after seeing and hearing so many people doing it we have changed our mind. To hire it would cost £75 but the lady did tell us we could do it a lot cheaper ourselves off £b@y and she would put them out for us while she decorates. All we have to do is make sure anything we have done ourselves is at the venue ready for her to put out.

How far in advance are you getting your wedding rings? H2b want's to get ours next month but I'm not sure if it's way too soon, especially with me wanting to lose 2 stone (he is a twig and needs to gain weight!)
