I am unfortunate enough to be completely blind without my glasses on. I really don't like the idea of wearing my glasses on my wedding day but then again of I wear contacts I look all squinty eyed.
Did anybody who wears glasses wear them on the big day? Or did u opt for contacts?

I think you look lovely with your glasses on.

Could you buy some new designer one's for the big day? Or would that not make you feel any better.

If you wear glasses all the time and don't like how you look with contacts I would wear the glasses, also if your not used to wearing contacts you don't want them giving you problems on the big day. It's going to be a long day so you don't want contacts making your eyes hurt, or dry... or whatever else they can do to them.

I envy all you ladies who can wear false eyelashes and get hprgepusly smoky eyes, they don't stand out when you wear glasses.
I had a look at the glasses you can buy without a game but apparently my lenses are to thick. :-((
Has anyone tried the branded lenses? @cuvue of something.

I have some contacts for the big day. I don't like wearing them and it feels weird but I really didn't want wedding pictures of me wearing glasses. I may well pop my specs back on in rhe evening when I have tired eyes though.

I wouldn't, but I don't wear them often, but if you wear them alot, people aren't used to "your look" without wearing them. You look lovely in them. I just have never felt comfy with them on my face. My husband wears them all the time as his eyesight is awful. He looks lovely with or without them, but must admit I'm used to him with them on.

I often get that too "you look weird without your glasses on" because I always wear them. I think I'm going to have a look round for some note dainty ones. Mythick rimmed "nerd" glasses just don't suggest wedding. Hehe

I think you look lovely with glasses.... If people are not used to seeing you without them that's going to look more odd if you know what I'm trying to say lol

Do what you feel most comfortable but I find contacts irritate my eyes after a few hours and I wouldn't want that on my big day

    Completely up to you!

Personally I'm going to wear lenses.
But I've been wearing them on and off for about 15 years. Day to day, and sometimes when going out I wear my glasses. I changed lenses a few years ago to "comfort" lenses which are similar to the ones you mentioned.

I can wear them for about 14 hours but only do that occasionally. I'm sure my specs will be on before the evening is out though.
People prob only say you look funny because they're not used to you without glasses, but you shouldn't be "squinty" with the right lenses, speak to your optician if they're not right...or be yourself and wear glasses.

Why don't you have both? Have the contacts during the day and specs in the evening. I would say vice versa but you don't want to try to take your lenses out in the evening if you are planning on having a drink!

For your specs though, ask for an anti reflective coating as that will reduce the reflections, such as flash off a camera. Also, white specs seem to be coming into fashion!

I wear glasses but I'll be wearing contacts on the day and when get tired of them I'll just take them out an be blind for the rest the night, because if went on a night out I wouldn't wear my glasses so I won't wear them on the day. I want to look my best. Version of me on the day so don't want to be hiding behind glasses, oh won't be wearing his either, but both of us have daily lenses we can wear anyway. There was another thread about this convo before but I can't remember who it was!

I wear both glasses and contact lenses.. Glasses to work in the week etc and at home, but pop my contacts in if I am going out somewhere else i.e. Shopping, for a meal etc. I have @cuvue lenses and get on great with them, but they do irritate my eyes after a while, though I can cope with that and will be far too preoccupied on the day of the wedding to even care I expect.

It's hard because your glasses are "you", but I know I would hate to be wearing my glasses in the wedding pics and I just feel more attractive when wearing lenses.. As you say, you can also haver eye make up that stands out then as well rather than being hidden behind glasses.

You can always have a lens trial and see how you get on - any opticians should offer you a trial, go through how to use them with you and suggest the best brands for you (everyone's eyes are different and require different brands with different properties). If you don't get on with them then at least you know you tried and can then cross off that option xx

I think if you don't wear lenses then you shouldn't for your big day

If like other ladies you wear lenses for nights out then wear them for your wedding.

On the other hand, if you get some lenses now and practice wearing them a little before the big day-it might be nice to wear them for the big day and not have the pictures with your glasses on. It really depends on how you feel about your glasses, if you hate them and would hate for your glasses to be on your wedding pics, then practice with the lenses, if you love your glasses but just don't think your big glasses would suit a wedding, then look at treating yourself to some new white or smaller or rimless glasses.

I like myself in glasses, would rather stay in them as I hate contact lenses and feeling uncomfortable in them, but will see how it will be once I have dress on. If will look very bad, I will wear contacts.

It's easier than it looks MrsThomson.. I used to watch my mum put her lenses in and think omg that's disgusting, but once you have to do it for yourself it's nothing, you don't even think about it! It's not uncomfortable putting them in at all although it does take a while to get the hang of it x

It totally depends on the person I think. I think you suit your glasses, but a lot of brides I've seen worry about 'glare' when having photographs taken.

If you're totally against lenses, then see if you can find a smaller/thinner or whatever kind of glasses you'll be comfortable in for your wedding day.

If you're open to it - have a trial with some contact lenses. Go to your opticians and they will guide you (I also watched my mam when I was younger) It will be uncomfortable to start with so you wont be used to them completely or a pro at getting them in/out in 2 days. You'll need enough time to practise and decide if you do actually like or not. It gets easier! Then depending on how you get on, take it from there to make your decision!

At least you have plenty of time for people to get used to your no glasses look and if you get on with contacts you might start wearing them after the wedding so people won't think it's so odd seeing you without glasses.

I'll be wearing glasses but struggling to find any 'weddingy' ones that I don't hate, I have black frames at the moment that aren't really going to go with the whole look.

I am lucky that my step dad works for seiko so can get me cost price glasses, if I had to buy them full price I would maybe have considered contacts.

See how the trial goes, it is probably easier than the quest I am on for glasses that go with a wedding dress but don't look like something my gran would wear.

I never wear contacts though and I mentioned to my OH that I might try contacts for the wedding as lots of people had been asking if I would be wearing my glasses (I am the same as you it is not optional unless I want to stumble down the aisle!) and he just said I wouldn't look like me without my glasses on so not to worry about it and just wear what I want to wear.

I won't be wearing my glasses, but I always lenses when I go out anyway.

I think if you very rarely wear lenses anyway and are more comfortable in glasses, you should stick to your glasses. Either way I'm sure you'll look beautiful on your big day!
