    hi girls,
finally on the dreaded stationary but so far seems reasonably easier than anticipated. By sheer luck I came across this gorgeous ivory swirl on opaque background that looks really posh so mil2b is now getting ivory card and leaving a strip of plain ivory card, 3/4's of the ivory swirl and then to bring these two materials together, bordeux ribbon with an oval diamante buckle. What do we think? She is going to create a range of samples for us over the course of the week as she is much more artistic and feels as though she needs to do this for us because she is upset she doesnt have a big role bless her! After we decide on the sample, we will then all work on them together...

Problem one: We are probably going to pick linen style card as it has a simple pattern instead of being plain and it wont clash with the old style swirls. However, we are struggling to find really nice envelopes to match and can only find plain white ones.

Second problem is that any parchment now will clash with the card.... what shall we write the information on?

Thirdly, you know these posh cards that have a piece of thin paper in front, does this get written on or just stay plain and placed before the writing?

    Can anyone help us?

Ok starting on your third point lol We had our sons christening invites done like this and they were left blank so i would say leave them hunni (i'll post a pic of them later if you want to see?)

Your first point being the linen paper because of the pattern on them, have you looked at that other type of paper that has a pattern on (cant remember the name but ill have a look in a sec and post it) as i think they do envelopes in the same style.
If not what about using boxes instead of enevelopes???? Loads of ppl who are making there own are saying they are costing different prices to post because not all of them are the same thickness, so using a box will solve this and make them look that lil bit more special (i have a link to mine if you want it hunni)

and lastly your point 2 lol if you dont want to use the card as a border what about printing straight onto the card??? Ive seen some fab invites done in linin card which they printed straight onto (was on fb so will see if i can find it).

thanks girls, this is all very useful and have had a good look at the link left on my wall :) I really like the idea of making little boxes etc, that seems a fab idea and will look really professional. mil2b said she will try things as many ways as she can think of so she will hopefully encourporate some of these ideas and I can post her examples on here and ppl can advise me on what looks best :)

We have used Hammer Card for ours and Just bought Hammered paper to do the added info bits to go inside and have matching envelopes. They look really nice and makes them look a bit more than just a plain card especially as we dont have much detail on ours

is hammer where it looks like little round circles, but not perfectly round? Sorry im so naive when it comes to all this. I had no clue what half of the items in the shop did. Was really confuzzled.
