Hello ladies,

Finding someone to do the wedding cake is next on my list and i've only had one quote so far but i don't know what to make of it. I've asked for a quote on a 4 tier cake - 2 chocolate sponge tiers and 2 plain sponge tiers. It has got quite a bit of detail on it but it's all in like a piped icing (i pressume that's what it is?!) But there are no sugar flowers or anything like that. The quote i've had is £375 and an extra £25 if i want to hire the stand (i'm in the process of finding out what size stand my venue provide).

Do you think that's a good price?

Obviously i'm going to try and find a few others to get a quote from aswell but i'm struggling to find any at the moment.

I'd love to hear what kind of cakes you're having and how much they've cost!

We're paying £450 for a 12, 10, 8, 6 4 tier cake (12" = vanilla with raspberry and buttercream; 10" = chocolate; 8" = lemon or carrot (undecided); 6" = fruit). There is some design/embellishment on 2 of the tiers, and ribbons with brooches on two too; no sugared flowers etc. I THINK the stand costs £50 but not 100% sure. We found that the average in our area was about £400-500 for this type of cake, so I'd say £375 is a good price.

I'm having a three tier but the bottom tier is a fake tier so only paying for two, ours will be under £200 hopefully x

We had a chocolate sponge for our engagement cake, it was luuuuush! Oooo toffee and strawberry!!! You're making me want to change my mind now! Lol! Glad i've got a good price though, i'm thinking of asking for one of the layers to be fake so that would bring the price down again wouldn't it? x

We have got ours for a really good price as a family friend is doing it (£60)
but the quotes we got for a 3 tier icing rose covered cake were from £130 up to £350
Im having the below cake but 3 tiers in normal sponge 6" 8" and 10"
