Yup 8th August is a good day to get married ;)

Having honeymoon issue's, can't decide on Mexico-full out luxury (which will work out cheaper) or a cruise around Norway and Iceland.... neither of us have been on a cruise before so no idea what type of cabin to book or how comfortable they are :/ but fiancé seems really taken with that idea.

    Aghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

Now my fiancé is saying he's not sure he wants to spend that much on our honeymoon :(

He's pee'ing me off if I'm going to be honest, I'm here getting all excited about having a once in a lifetime holiday and now he's saying he's not sure if he wants to, but he doesn't want to have a cheap holiday either. I don't know what he chuffing wants. I was really hoping we would book today as well as flights are released and it doesn't look like we will be doing for a while until he stops being a massive grump.

Tell him to make his mind up lol, in all honesty though I have to agree that 4k is ALOT of money for a holiday (is that 1 or 2 weeks?) but then I am a tight ar$e!!

With us wanting to do Florida in 2016 we need to really keep our honeymoon cost down, we ideally want to spend no more than 1k & if that means we end up having a UK holiday then so be it. We would rather put the 2-3k that we would have spent on a honeymoon towards Florida, were also going to ask for dollars (or GBP) on our wedding gift list so hopefully that takes another chunk off of it.
We took the kids to Florida 3 years ago, even though we won our flights & accomodation we still ended up spending 5k+, so we need to save as much as possible.

It's for 2 weeks, I know it is a lot of money... but then we're not saving for Florida lol, that sounds amazing though :)

I quite like that about the fact that it's ultra all inclusive, we won't need much spending money, just enough for some excursions and some presents for people and little bits for ourselves. I like the fact that we can have whatever we want food or drinks wise without worrying about money as it's already paid for. My fiancé is quite tight and although I don't mind it on other holidays when we're on honeymoon I want to be able to have as many cocktails as I want without feeling guilty and thinking I should go for a cheaper drink or not having a drink at all when I fancy one because we've budgeted a certain amount for that day ect.

Don't think I've mentioned it in this thread yet.... but put the deposit down on my dress today! Aghhhh exciting stuff

My H2B is as bad as yours, just got off the phone to him (he's working away at the moment) & I told him summer 2015 holidays were released today & how much they were. He's now saying he doesn't care what it costs & that he wants to put our honeymoon above Florida & if that means we cant afford Florida then so be it!!
What is it with men?? I'm hoping it was the drink talking as he'd clearly had a few.

Yeah I'd wait for him to get back and speak to him about it again if I were you.

What's annoying is when they've already agreed to something and then they change their minds just at time you'd be wanting to book isn't it.... grrr

I've read for summer holidays it's best booking asap as last minute deals don't really happen so much these days, especially if you have a specific place you want to go.... which annoys me as not only do we know where we want to go we know which hotel and which room we want.... I'm royally pee'd that he's dragging his feet now as I've had this date in my head for ages thinking we'd book and I'd be all happy... I joked to my mum about booking without telling him, but that's not how I want to go into our marriage and I'd never do anything like that.... I am however tempted to sulk until I get my own way (I know that sounds very childish but I am actually really annoyed at how he's behaved with it, to the point where actually at the moment I don't want to act like I'm not annoyed because he has well and truly pee'd be off)

I think it's annoyed me even more that this sudden money conciousness has come completely out of the blue, as last night he seemed quite happy to book the cruise :/

I don't know whether to keep bringing up the honeymoon or not with fiancé :/ I don't want to end up arguing about it, but I would feel a lot better if we had it booked.

I think he's just completely freaked out by how much the wedding is costing as well, but we have the money, my mum has given us a very generous amount and I have an inheritance which is also all going towards it.... his mum has also said that she will put something towards it but she hasn't said what yet (I don't think she'll put as much as my mum towards it, but I wouldn't expect her to, I didn't expect my mum to either) but even without spending whatever his mum puts towards it, we can afford the honeymoon.

As for the dress, yes it was the first one :) Everyone on here seemed to prefer it and when I went back to see it I just remembered how gorgeous it was-the pictures really don't do it justice... even my mum said I'd made the right choice... although I was a little tempted with the sample one from the same designer, this one just really shows my figure off and although I know I wouldn't look frumpy in another dress, I know what I'm like and I'd end up looking back at pictures thinking I did.

Right we're talking about honeymoons now, hopefully something may be decided soon. Looking at that hotel in Mexico, another one at a similar price again in Mexico and one in the Dominican republic.... all look lovely, I want to go swimming with dolphins though and that isn't mentioned in the Dominican republic one (I know it might be an option once we get there but the Mexico one's actually mention it)

I'm glad it's not just me with honeymoon troubles!! Trying to get a definitive answer from OH at the moment is like pulling teeth! He knows where he DOESN'T want to go - but that's about it! I made a few suggestions of places in Greece as it's not too far or too expensive and he doesn't want to go there. Turned his nose up at Egypt - despite a gorgeous hotel at a bargain price! -Ultra inclusive holidays in Spain etc are a no-go. Not really keen on Mexico (I mean REALLY!?!?) Doesn't want Turkey or Tunisia ... I'm trying to be realistic with prices but he must have access to a money tree I know nothing about as the 2 places he has mentioned in passing are Dominican Republic and Barbados. Lovely thought but when did we win the lottery!

Sorry, mini-rant over - my MoH is MIA at the moment so nobody to vent at weddingwise without getting a sigh and told it's not til next year...on the plus side I've been walking to my new place of work and cutting out some of the cr@p from my diet and have lost 1.5 inches from my hips and an inch from my thighs :)

That's great Catherine, I need to get back onto sw properly, but finding it really hard as we have loads of events on.

I've just found some amazing bridesmaid dresses on the bay, they're long though and I think my girls were hoping for short after I mentioned yellow dresses and purple shoes... but I just keep thinking, hmmm but it would save me on having to buy them shoes as they could just wear their own shoes ;) and also they're a fab price... the seller has said they were £150 new but she's changed her mind on the colour scheme. My main issue with buying them now is I wouldn't know whether to get one of my bridesmaids a 10 or a 12, as she has just had a baby and although she wants to lose weight, I don't want to buy her a dress that ends up being too small as that wouldn't make her feel great :/ I suppose 12 would be safer as it can always be taken in.

Hmmmm, I would hold off buying any bridesmaid dresses until next year. Did you see missweedles post about her bm putting on weight, now doesn't fit dress and needing to do alterations even though she's getting married on Saturday? So not going to go through that! We are buying dresses when we all get together for our hen weekend next April as that's even time to find something on the bay if nothing in the shops don't suit but not too much time that they can change shape ;)

Hey ladies, just been reading through all you latest updates, can't believe how organised people are! I'm trying not to rush into things as it will feel like a really long wait if I get most of it done this Summer! Its getting really exciting for me just now because I get to actually make concrete plans as opposed to just compiling ideas. We live in Edinburgh but are having our big day at my future in laws in Co. Down, NI. They run a crafts business and tea room set in an acre of land with views of the Mourne mountains so we've totally struck gold saving around 4k on our favourite venue in Scotland! We are going over to visit family, so are scheduling in visits to the registry office, the caterers (hog roast/bbq nomnomnom) and a lovely hostel which we are looking to hire out for the weekend for our guests!

Just finalising details with a fire performer, and am scheduling an appointment for June at the bridal store I have been eyeing up since we got engaged Dec 2011! Have tried on about fifteen dresses, some of them stunning, but I really want to feel comfortable in my dress and will be really self-conscious about tripping over all the material as I can be super clumsy! I wanted to try on a range of styles before hitting the one I have in mind, as they specialise in vintage/vintage style short and tea-length dresses, as there's no way of knowing its what I want unless I know my options!

Looking at 50's style swing dresses for my bridesmaids, all in different colours as we are having a bright informal day! Since the registry office is just for the legal bit, we will be having the whole day including the blessing as the one place, with no formal dinner to break it up, we are know thinking of fun ways to create a loose structure, planning for garden games, face painting and an ice cream van for the afternoon!

James has made me promise not to send the STDs until a year before so they will be ready to hit the postbox on August first haha!

We have all our big things sorted now except for flowers and bridesmaid dresses....

I did have a bit of a sad moment when I'd put the deposit on my dress, thinking we don't have much to sort now, but I'm glad really as the things we have left are the fiddly things, like invites (as we are making our own) and all the bits that don't matter AS much, all the little details which we can sort over the next year or so, with breaks for things like Easter ect.

Yeah I'll get the big stuff sorted in the next six months and leave sorting things like where I am staying the night before, and where we are spending our wedding night till after that. There's so many little bits should keep us fairly busy throughout. Just decided that we are going to take blues dance lessons for our first dance which is to Moon Dance! Going to have a shot at lindy hop dancing for an upbeat one to follow too, not sure how it will go as I'm quite uncoordinated haha!

Well after all the ranting and raving on here me and H2B sat and did more budgeting (I've never been so financially organised in my life!) and we have booked our honeymoon! We are staying in Bayahibe in the Dominican Republic for 10 nights. The hotel looks beautiful and we are both really really excited. Booked through Th0m50n and they were fab! They have given us a couple of upgrades which was nice and the woman told us to tell everyone we are on honeymoon as they often allow for upgrades/freebies etc.

Is it 2015 yet? haha! x

Although one of my bridesmaids kept saying I needed to chose my dress before my flowers.

I'm going to try and make sure I get my flowers booked this Summer, it's the only big thing other then bridesmaid dresses I haven't sorted yet and I think it will be good to look at them this summer as I can see what's in season ect. and hopefully avoid next years price hikes. Hopefully when MIL comes up next we will go to one or two florists, unless she doesn't come up any time soon, she has said about coming up for the bank holiday possibly but hasn't said for definite or not yet. I do want them booked in August the latest

Either not very helpful people (i think the people who work in the bridal shops really do have a influential part in making a decision. I've found two lovely dresses but the staff were not very helpful, wouldn't give me the information i was asking for)or i cant find anything within budget that I really like ( I seem to have expensive taste and like lace) :( i've got some time yet so hoping I will find the one.
