Oh dear ElizabethF49. Been getting the dreams too again. Had them at the beginning but had one last night where my bridesmaids and I turned up at venue 2 days early and essentially crashed someone elses wedding :-O not so bad but there's time for the worse ones to start.

    My dreams have started too!

I had one about the shop giving me the wrong dress and not realisingg until the day.

I got the first photos of my cake topper today, pics are in the album.

The first 3 are the original topper and the last 2 with some minor adjustments I wanted. So exited, it is perfect!

Grrrrr! Men! So our package at the venue doesn't include wine on table a toasting drink or evening Buffett, we are eating fairly late so could always just do nibbles and dips or something. But hubby is like why do we have to add all this now, he doesn't see why we need to add it and I don't think you can expect not to get a drink for your guests!! What can I compromise on?! What's others doing re drinks?

Our venue offers their own wine but also uses other suppliers if we so choose and one of them is a very close by (less than a mile away) winery called C@irn 'o' M0hr which we're using. They have the most amazing strawberry sparkling wine and also do a non-alcoholic punch which we plan to have during the canapes. The wine itself will only be table wine for the meal and anything not used will be refunded back. After that guests get their drinks from the bar themselves.

    6 weeks today - eek!

    What's everyone doing about gifts?

Our wedding gift list with J0hn 1ewis went live today so we've just sent an email round to all our of guests with the details. It was so difficult to write the message without seeming grabby - part of me is like of course you don't want to presume that people will buy you anything but on the other hand I would be pretty miffed if no-one bothered!

For us? We're just asking very politely that if they wish to give a gift we'd prefer a donation towards our honeymoon to Orlando. We've been together nearly a decade and, if anything, we're trying to get stuff out of the house not bring more in since we hope to move house not long after the wedding.

For the wedding party? Haven't figured it out yet for the bridesmaids and best man but we have sorted out gift for my future in laws. They're wedding photos weren't developed properly and became light damaged very quickly. Sadly their photographer kept the film for if his customers wanted additional prints and the studio burned down a few months after the wedding :( So we sneakily managed to get a hold of a few of their wedding pics and got one digitized and colour restored. Just need to get it framed :D My niece, who is my FG is getting a pair of fairy wings to run around with during the reception.

Gift lists are always difficult to introduce to people.
we are personally not having one. I heard a comment today at work about a gift list along the lines of my oh friends are so cheap only choosing gifts under £40 mark. How rude!

I think gift lists are cheeky, if guests want to buy you something it should be at what value they choose not stipulated by a price and gift on a list at a certain shop.

If I get nothing so be it. I haven't invited people for gifts I've invited them to share the day and love.

We have a honeyfund page with honeymoon add ons like tickets to museums, breakfasts etc, at varying prices, but we also have a JL list as some of the older guests wanted to pick something for our home.

Our JL goes live tomorrow, but all the details were in the invites so I am not going to remind people!

Had another wedding dream last night :( this time somehow I ended up sitting among the guests before the wedding started and no-one noticed me until I stood up and my dress wasn't laced up properly either.

On other news I'm going to be bulk buying some fans for the guests on the day as with it being August it is likely going to be quite warm. My question is though... would you buy them for the women only or the whole lot?

I've got fans, I actually got them from work they're left over from a promo so that's nice!! But yeah I only really have half the number of guests more aimed for the ladies and girls, think if the men want one they'll borrow their other half's! Can't see many of the men in my wedding fanning themselves! Lol

Oh forgot to say everyone's outfits are sorted now apart from my two maids shoes! Whoop! Had an absolute bargain with my daughters flower girl shoes in Lewis of john, they were marked down from £25 to £10. Great I thought! Got to the till and they were only £5!!! Lovely little satin pumps with a flower and sequins!
Also got my boys shoes, older boy was composing about wearing pointy shoes that 'look like cucumbers'! Lol kept trying to pick heavy chunky ugly shoes! But we got there in the end!
Every payment has now been made!! It's just getting the last bits now!
    So left to do is
    Table planner
    Kids place names
Make a decision on ceremony and first dance music!! (Grr)
    Choose a reading
    Choose perfume
    Bridesmaid shoes
    Dress fitting
    Decide on extra drinks/ buffet
    Gifts for each other
    Groomsmen gifts
    Stop eating cake!!

    Anything I might've forgotten ladies?!..
These are also our centrepieces now we've finally decided! With some sprinkles sparkle on the table too!

Haha I love the "stop eating cake" on your to do list xx

We've gone with vans for the boys, one of the boys has very wide feet so we really struggled to find nice shoes in wide & normal sizes, within a reasonable price range. They will never wear smart wedding shoes again so didn't want to spend too much on them, with the vans they can wear them after the wedding. We've also got one of our Jr bridesmaids Vans, she's a tomboy & hated the typical bridesmaid shoes, the vans are much more her style, plus her dress is long so you wont see them anyway.

Haha, I must also stop eating cake!

I also had stop drinking coke on my list, but I have just about managed that now. Coke is now only allowed at the weekend, and even now I don't drink it most weekends

I am sitting here in my wedding shoes starting to wear them in. I have put some heel guards in so they don't rub and some gel cushions under the balls of my feet too so they don't et so sore.
I have my first seamstress appointment at 12 so have just been out to pick up my dress, then after that we have a meeting with the venue at 3pm.

H2b wore his wedding shoes to a job interview yesterday in an attempt to wear them in a little. He got the job so they must be good shoes!

I'm finally getting a bit more organised too! I have sorted out the flowers and they're all paid for now and I've just left my engagement ring with a local jewellers for him to make me a wedding ring to fit around it. I didn't really like to leave my ER behind though, I feel a bit naked without it! Bridesmaid dress is ordered.

Next thing on my list is the cake! We have a local bakery who have said they make vegan cakes so I need to make an appointment to go in and figure something out, so will hopefully get that sorted next week.

I've been wearing my shoes around the house as well, glad it's not just me! Got my first fitting on Tuesday. It's all coming together now!

my meeting with the venue went great, we just went over all the little details where I will want everything, all the timings, what suppliers I will be using, favours etc. also picked up my banns certificate and dropped it with vicar (FIL) and went over order of service tying to cut out as much as possible as don't want fed up kids and picked up oh baby pics so I can finish my table plan. I've been wearing my shoes in :) I've picked vans to for my son and they look great with his suit!

my last hair trial was a success and it definitely made me a little more excited, my veil has arrived so going to try that with my dress tonight
i'm glad i'm not the only one having dreams!!! just got all the rest of the diy decorations to do now so its all exciting

Just back from my first seamstress appointment.

I love my dress even more now she has pinned it into place and added a bit of cup support. It will just fit perfectly and the seamstress is such a lovely lady!
The only problem was I started to feel really faint near the end and had to sit down. I didn't sleep well last night, I hadn't eaten much today, it was really hot and to top it off the emotion I guess got to me! Must eat lunch before the next one.

I picked up my certificate for marriage yesterday, just need to drop it off to the vicar at some point. After the hassle of giving notice and being referred to the home office (to make sure we weren't a sham marriage!) as I am a kiwi on a limited time visa. It is nice to finally have the paperwork.

Just waiting for h2b to get home from golf now so we can go to the venue meeting

While dreaming the other night I shouted 'Alan you can just kiss my ars3' I don't remember what I was dreaming about but he said I was pretty angry lol. Dreams are crazy. Think we are on track with everything (bit stressed with the house sale and moving into my parents next month for about 10 weeks)

We have the registrar meeting on Wednesday so we really need to decide on music for ceremony and first dance this weekend. Then we have final venue meeting on 11th July 5 weeks before the wedding. Really not got much to do at all.

I've not started dreaming wedding dreams yet. Sounds like I should look forward to those!

Despite the heat, I spent this afternoon doing an end-to-end dry run of the wedding cake making process. It took 5.5 hours to bake, cool, fill and decorate and you can see a picture of the result in my photo album. The cake is Vicky sponge and the top layer's got elderflower buttercream and raspberry jam, the bottom one has vanilla buttercream and homemade passion fruit curd. I'm really happy with the taste but my fondant icing definitely needs a little more practice - it's a quite lumpy :(

Did you sieve your icing sugar? I always find that makes it better! I always follow the hummingbird bakery recipes for buttercream, there's nothing like it!

But stop talking about cake else that's just torture! Lol
Yes I thought of going for converse or something but they just didn't look right, they were only £19 each the shoes so I'll just use them as school shoes afterwards! Lol
Glad everyone's getting on so well, the weeks seem to just be whizzing by now! I'm finding it very hard with this heat wave to not get bloody strap marks! It's worrying me just how hot we all might be in August!! A tomato faced hot sweaty bride is not the look I'm going for!

@KimberleyR78 Yeah, one of the things I was advised is on the day of wedding while you're getting ready is make sure to have nibbles because you will be burning through energy. My bridesmaids said they have something planned to keep me energised and make sure you also drink a lot of water though make sure to use the facilities before getting into your dress so you're not needing to pee during the ceremony.

@sprucey yesterday was lovely weather here in Dundee, I had a rare Saturday off and was outside for most of it. Kept pasting on the SPF50 so hopefully that has helped but I can see slight strap marks :( Going to need to visit the tanning beds soon for me I think.

OH and I went into town yesterday morning and picked up his wedding ring. It's a customer one and he is very happy with it, sadly he wouldn't let me take a picture because he doesn't want it getting back to family just yet.

All out lawn games have arrived and we bought hoola hoops as well for the kids (and adults) to play with.
Still need to make up wedding programmes
    Table plan is done
    RSVPs are all in
Need to make final decision on veggie option
Make up Alice in Wonderland signs.
    Labels for sweet table.
    Jewellery for BMs
Final meeting on the 12th with venue
    Flower girls hair band

It's been raining on & off here this morning.

I'm wondering if I should cancel my hen do?? I only arranged one as a few family members had complained that I hadn't organised anything, only to then tell me they cant make it!! Anyway the plan is to go to a pub/nightclub saturday 4th July but have just realized that on sunday our banns are being read at church at 10am. We have already missed the first 2 times our banns were read due to H2B being away so cant miss this one & I really don't think I'd be feeling up to it if I do go out saturday.

Just when things were getting nice and calm my aunt drops a bombshell yet again asking if I want to meet up with her and my sister to "put it all in the past" because "life is too short" My sister is a poisonous wench who decided herself she wasn't coming after the stunt she pulled and after 3 decades of her tantrums and people pandering to it I decided I was done. But that doesn't stop people trying to guilt me.

Ain't happening. Life is too short to waste it on people who just make my life miserable and walk on eggshells.

Sorry for the rant ladies but... AARRGGGHHH!

    And we're good again.

Victoria sounds exactly like my oh's sister! She's the most evil person going! So now he doesn't talk to any of his family because he said he wanted nothing to do with her and couldn't forget and forgive her behaviour so His fam sided with her and left him out on his own! Means a cheaper Xmas for us though! Lol 3yrs of not talking now so of course non of them are invited to the wedding.
Which brings me onto my moan of the evening the best man still hasn't booked his bloody hotel for our wedding!!! When every other guest going has!! Oh text him this morning asking him to let him know when it's booked so we can arrange times for stuff the day before the wedding, he replies no worries as soon as I get paid! Yet his status on fb an hour later is about being emergency taxed!.. Erm so you have been paid then?!!!' Grrrr you'd think being a big role in a wedding and being one of the only representatives for my oh as it were that he'd step up to the plate so to speak!

@Sprucey yeah you'd think it would light a fire under their butts being that involved in the wedding. I'd tell him straight.

My MIL is not happy with my aunt right now after her asking a second time for me to talk to my sister 6 weeks before wedding and trying to guilt me with the "life is short" thing. The 10 years my MIL has been in my life all she has seen from my side is indifference, appalling morals and disgusting attitudes and she feels my aunt has no ground to stand on to make these requests after she goes around telling people she thinks my sister and I like daughters but 99% of the time is indifferent to me but panders to my sister.

Here is a good example of what my sister is like.

Out of generosity when my sisters phone broke my OH sent her his old phone with explicit instructions from both him and me to delete all the contacts on it because we couldn't find the charger for it to turn it on. A week later my future FIL starts getting disgusting text messages with incredibly foul language. My OH and I just by chance were at his parents house that evening and he showed us the texts, I immediately recognised it and checked the number... lo and behold it was my sister who had just had a fight with our father on the land line and she then started to send him hateful texts having not removed the existing numbers like we had told her to. Suffice to say my FIL... was not amused and he is normally very calm, quiet and humorous.

Did my sister apologise? No, just said "whatever" and hung up.

What have you all got left to do?

My dress isn't in still, it's due in on the 6th, I think I'll give the shop a call friday to check it's on its way.
Bridesmaids are booked in for fittings on the 18th.
I need to chase up all the suppliers, to make sure there's no issues.
I need to change one of the groomsman's jackets for a bigger size & buy H2B's waistcoat.
Then it's just a few little bits to get ie prosecco (to replace the bottles we've drank, oops), sweets for the sweet table, book appointments for myself & the girls to get our nails done.
MIL2B keeps telling me to get highlights in my hair to brighten it up a bit, hopefully they'll be enough left in the budget, I won't know until I get the dress alterations prices confirmed.

Mine are from an online company called r0be trader$. They came with slippers and each robe has a paper label attached with the sizings etc. The one on mine says "huge congratulations for your special day!" :D such a fab company
