hey brides and future brides :)
at first i am sorry if there are any wrong terms, i am not a native speaker, i am an original german^^

we (me and my fiance) have to make a hard decision during the next two months.... we have to decide whether to take a great fancy nice tent or a great old hall for our reception.
    Both have benefits:
the hall has a great size for our number of guests. it looks romantic and old very lovely and u are able to go outside. the area around it is beautiful too.... AND it includes everything (seats, tables, lights, bar,........)

on the other hand there is the idea about a tent. not a small boring icky one. it is a fancy looking tent you can see **************************************/ . it means much more work because we have to rent everything for its inside too. my fiance said it may become too much work for us, but i love to organizate all those details... we can choose everything on our own what makes it much more individuell and fit our expectations.

so what do u guys think about the stress factor? you think it is too much work? i mean there would be time until 2016 (i also told my fiance again and again^^) so enough time to plan step by step....
But we need to decide during the next two months because otherwise the hall varation will be gone.

EDIT - LINK HAS BEEN REMOVED AS WE DO NOT ALLOW THEM ON THE FORUM, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO POP THE LINK ON YOUR WALL AND DIRECT PEOPLE THERE .

I think you can do the organisation easily by 2016, if you prefer the marquee. You need to decide which one you love more. One thing, links on the forum don't work. You need to change your profile from private to public and then put the link on your wall.

30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

You do have plenty of time to organise everything, so that's not an issue.. I think it just depends how personal you want your day? If you like the hall and you wouldn't want to change it in any way then go for that, but if you want to add your own personal little bits and make it even more personal to you, then the marquee would be great.

Do you have a gut feeling? I'd go with your gut feeling if you have one xx

Go with what your heart says. You don't want to look back and wonder what your day would have been like at the other venue.
I'd speak to the company about hiring the tent to see if they have recommended suppliers for certain parts as this may make it easier to organise.
Good luck and let us know what you decide to go with!!

You need to decide if all the extra work is worth the stress on the run up to the big day for the Marquee. For me I couldn't do it as it would send me in a tail spin and id crash and burn.

Both venues sound lovely. Factors to think about are what month are you planning on getting married and would the marque be great n all kids of weather. Would you have a back up plan if it was heavy rain or would it be marquee or nothing. For me I couldn't take the risk it would end up like a festival site on the big day if it had been raining.

Good luck and hope you decide and book somewhere soon

hey chris, i hope you have already made the right decision for a venue!
I think to rent a tent has many benefits as you said and you can place it "anywhere" if you want,
and if it's your dream location - why not? ;)

I'm planning something like this too for my wedding in 2016 and already look/hear around...
so it should looks like this:

EDIT - LINK HAS BEEN REMOVED ,THEY BARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE FORUM . PLEASE POST ON YOUR WALL

I'm still not sure yet because you're right that it's very stressful but it is something different and so individual and addionally until 2016 it will be possible to make I think.

However you decide I wish you good luck ;)
    All the Best, Lucy

EDIT: The link to the picture doesn't want to work :/

I would go with your gut instinct. Personally I would go for something a bit different to other weddings that you have been to or heard of etc. as you want yours to be memorable, but I would also weigh up the cost of both and see which is better for your budget. Get together a list of costs for the tent plus catering, chair and table hire etc. and put it together with the cost of the great hall. Our venue is set in a country manor house which is still family owned so it is exclusive hire (no other people will be there other than your guests and the staff), it has its very own grounded marquee, large gardens, and even a pagoda type thing to get married outdoors if the weather is nice enough. We get all the catering, tables, chairs etc. in with the price of the venue so it means less hassle for us when planning everything else. It is also everything that I wanted so that is a bonus as well! x
