Just made these 5 today, and hanging them from kitchen window to stop them getting crushed somewhere else in the house. Not the best pics and they won't be arranged this way on the day, lol, but what do you think? Took me 45 mins each one and hoping they don't look rubbish! xx

9th June 2012 when two worlds collide
The Crazy Cat Lady and the Transformer Man!
Thanks girls! Katie, I looked up how to make them on google. I used 20" x 30" tissue paper, fold it up like a concertina, secure it in the middle with floristy wire, then used monofilament wire similar to what is used for fishing rod line and then gently fold each layer out. Oh and I just used scissors to shape the ends before seperating the layers. Only another 10 or so to make but will have to wait til the marquee is up, as I have nowhere else to hang them, lol. :) x

CommentAuthorGregorysGirl
I know, that is the only thing that is bothering me, we get the sun in that window for a few hours in the morning and then it is at the back of the house all day. Just don't know where else to put them, probably shouldn't have made them just yet, only meant to practise with one, lol. x

CommentAuthorGregorysGirl
I would love to get all these done and out the way as I don't know if I will have time or patience to spend 45 mins per pom-pom a few days before the wedding! Might have to get an extendable curtain pole and put it somewhere in the house away from windows, as still have maybe 5 more big ones to make and then some smaller ones. x

Could they not go on top of a wardrobe?

CommentAuthorGregorysGirl
If they were smaller they could, but they are actually quite big ones and the weight would just crush all the bottom. Just wondering if an extendable pole could take the weight of 6 of them if I put it in the bottom store cupboard. x

do you have a fairly empty wardrobe (or could you clear one out a bit) and then hang them on the rail inside the wardrobe? away from light, humidity and dust then :) they are gorgeous!

gregorys theyre fab!!!! wot wud u say its cost 2 make 1??? if u dont mind me asking??? x x x
6 n a half weeks scan!!!!!! x x x
CommentAuthorGregorysGirl
Sure I can make some for a small fee, lol. I would say for 30 sheets of this tissue paper it costs about £4, then a pack of floristry wire is cheap enough at about £1 and £2 for a massive roll of monofilament wire. So pretty cheap to make really. I can get 3 large pom-poms out of the 20" x 30" tissue paper I have. xx

do they have string or a cord on them ??
cant wait to renew my vows, love my hubby sssssooooo much xx
CommentAuthorPiper Halliwell
you could dangle them from the top table in between organza draped over the front if you added a string/chord! see the ideas are flowing already!x
CommentAuthorGregorysGirl
The ones I have made have monofilament wire, similar to what they use for fishing rod lines. I like the fact that they seem to float. But you could use ribbon, a garland of beads etc. And yes you could put them anywhere, lol, I tried hanging small ones from the backs of my chairs but decided against it as they would just have got ripped by all the little hands attached to the little people we have coming, lol. x

CommentAuthorPiper Halliwell
People might take their jckets off and put them over the backs of their chairs too so that would hide the prettiness of them!x
CommentAuthorGregorysGirl
Very true! Will keep that idea for when we have a birthday party for either of my daughters! :) x Just to add you can use 2 different colours in the pom-poms if you want to go for a football themed party, like black and white for Newcastle United etc. Saw some pretty butterfly print tissue paper too somewhere which would look nice. x

i was just thinking that may be if they have something u can hang them with maybe u could get some large boxes, put holes in the bottom of the boxex, then thread the cord etc.. through the holes leaset that way they would be covered xx
cant wait to renew my vows, love my hubby sssssooooo much xx
CommentAuthorPiper Halliwell
I could do mine pink and blue to match my cupcake theme. I think there is actually cupcake tissue paper on amazon - if not then its just boring wrapping paper that you cant do anything with!x
CommentAuthorGregorysGirl
Thanks for your help girls with the storage problem, will give it a try, but leaving them up for tomorrow, we are having a little party to celebrate the Royal Wedding! That would be lovely Piper if you could get cupcake tissue paper, very pretty! :) x

you could buy a cheap clothing rail and hang them from that in a cool room out of direct sunlight..I work in a nursery and you would be amazed how quickly the tissue paper on displays fades. Tesco do a cheap one it's only a tenner..they are absolutelt fab though..I love them xxx
