So it’s no surprise that wedding photographer Sue Gill has plenty of tips to offer brides-to-be looking to minimise stress on the morn of their big day. “I’ve seen it many many times, from total chaos through to strictly-planned military operations.,” says Sue. “Preparation is definitely the secret to a smooth wedding morning.”

Sue says that by having a run-through of all the elements beforehand you will have an idea of timings and can plan accordingly. “Wear your shoes round the house to wear them in. See how long it takes to put on your dress and any fiddly bridal jewellery a day or so before the actual day. Work backwards from the time you will leave, and create a timetable that everyone is aware of and will stick to.”

Sue tells us that it’s often other members of the bridal party that can hold things up. “Bridesmaids should be aware of their roles – being there to assist the bride, not panicking last-minute about their own outfits.”

Budget Wedding Photography tips for the Bride:

• “Remove clutter from your house, as this isn’t a day to be disorganised! Keep pets out of the way, and have some food on hand for any children – hungry kids can be naughty kids! Nothing too messy though…

• “Ensure all labels, tags and stickers have been removed from dresses, shoes and anything else.

• “It may sound obvious, but make sure absolutely everyone has clear directions to the church. The last thing you need is the stress of anxious family members pestering you!”
