The Sky Lantern phenomenon has firmly taken off. Thanks to the advertising campaigns of Bacardi, for example, they are fast becoming the way to end a wedding party.
Also known as floating lanterns, glow lanterns, sky lanterns, sky candles or knoom fay, they are now the hottest must have party accessory. Not only do they make stunning Kodak moments that will be cherished for years to come, guests will love getting involved and watching their lantern float off into the distance.
Fireworks are fast going out of fashion, often being culprit to terrified children, they are anti-social and becoming less and less popular. These more gentle floating party tricks can create stunning moments, involving everyone from ages 1 to 100.
Many weddings launch their lanterns to music, so whenever your guests hear the song, they'll be transported back to those magical moments when their lantern floated away. Some couples have been known to keep a few left over to send up each year on their anniversary.
However, using these lanterns in the summer can be very dangerous. Dry crops are highly flammable and fires are not only dangerous but can destroy livelihoods, so be thoughtful when planning your evening entertainment.
