I ordered my dress from Confetti and Lace in Lakeside, I just looked them up online and they have a lot of awful reviews. Has anybody else used them and we're they ok? It's making me very anxious!

I went to try dresses on there with my mum, sister and best mate, worst ever wedding dress shopping experience! I have heard from other brides about terrible service and poor stinking attitude from the staff there but I decided to give them a try, i walked out fed up and deflated and not wanting to try anymore dresses or shops! It was horrible. I hated everything about that shop.
Sorry but I have to be honest, it wasn't a good experience.
Thankfully the tiny independent boutique in the town I live in (Epping) were the complete opposite and restored my faith in quality honest dresses, prices and service.
Maybe though you'll be one of the lucky ones xx

I also had a really bad experience with them. I went on a dead Wednesday afternoon, not a single person in the shop so I asked to try a dress on. I got told, "no, you need to make an appointment", so I said but your not busy and there aren't any other customers, she replied "I've already told no, besides you look like a child who wants to live in Disneyland". I very quickly left and have never been back. I really hope you don't have the same experience xx

We arrived 5 minutes early for my appointment. We were kept waiting and weren't seen until 20 minutes after the start of the appointment time booked.
Then we picked out dresses to try on and I was whipped in and out of 7 dresses and told with each one how amazing I looked by the sales assistant even when it was obvious I and my mum, sister and best mate hated them. She laid on the sales push so hard it upset and irritated me. When it was obvious I wouldn't be making a purchase that day she lost interest.
For the price they charge for those dresses I was so disappointed, we all found the dresses I tried on to be poor quality and the material felt so thin and cheap and nasty. I'm sure not every dress in the store was like that but all the ones I tried on were.
I just wanted to leave. I hated every moment in there.
Even if I had found my dream dress in there I wouldn't have bought it from them, I'd have sourced another stockist.

Same I really did like the one I saw and wanted to try on but I weren't gonna make an appointment after being spoken to like that. I found the dress or very similar dress at hayley Elizabeth bridal and they were amazing even when I said I wouldn't be buying it xx

My dress came from the W3dd1ng Tr0u553@u on Epping high street. Got the bridesmaids and flower girl dress from there too.
Flawless service, no heavy pushy sales and high quality dresses that all looked and felt expensive for the same price as that awful lakeside shop.
Just thinking about my experience in c0nf3tt1 @nd l@c3 makes my blood boil.

I'm really worrying, I already brought the dress from there and they were lovely whilst I was in there, the lady I was served by (Carly) was lovely and down to earth, not too pushy. I'm worried about getting my dress because of some of the reviews etc but I have all the paperwork of ordering so that must stand for something, right?

You've got two years, so there's time to deal with any problems. Have you paid in full or just a deposit? If just a deposit you could still walk away, but if you liked the dress in the shop you might not have any problems with it. Maybe you got lucky with the member of staff that you had.

Laura, I tried a dress on without an appointment and the shop in Cardiff couldn't have been more helpful, so there was no need for the staff you met to be so rude. I'd gone in to browse bridesmaids dresses by the same designer as a dress that I'd picked out in another shop, and was explaining to the lady who came to see if I needed help which dress it was. She commented that they were selling their sample of that dress, and went off to get it without me asking. When I asked to try it on she was more than happy. Ok she looked like getting a sale, but she still could have made me book an appointment, as it was obvious I was interested.

I went in there with my bridesmaids after making an appointment she told me I was too old be thinking about a wedding dress (i was 52 when I got married) so I told her exactly what I thought about her and her attitude and told her to stick it as we were stood there exchanging words another lady came in with her daughter and she was stood listening she said to the assistant I don't think we will be bothering if thats your attitude and walked out and waited for me outside. She said to me she couldn't believe how rude they were and there was no way they were getting her money.I know what IDL means about blood boiling I so wanted to slap her lol

I think the best thing to do if the already ordered is sit tight, hope for the best and just use the time to get to know your rights.

Is there anything in the paperwork that gives you a 'get out clause' if you're not happy? Might be best to sit tight for the time being and see how you get on. If you're not happy then you've still got the option to walk away.

The other thing that occurred to me is that often it's only the people who have had bad experiences who have felt it necessary to write a review, in order to warn others. Those who had good experiences, unless there was something really outstanding about it, are less likely to bother unless they are asked to. There may be people who had brilliant experiences with that shop, maybe with a different member of staff, who you haven't heard from. It may also be, if there have been complaints, that there have been changes or at least retraining among the staff.

I do hope it does work out for you, thing is all the local ladies go there to try on dresses, it's the one shop every bride in Essex knows and everyone I've spoken to (not online reviews) have nothing nice to say about the shop or staff. Everyone I've spoken to have had very bad experiences.

AnneJ48 - no. After reading the reviews left on independent review websites I wouldn't recommend it. Most say the dresses were badly made with cheap material and bad customer service.

I also went into this shop and have not left a review. I found there to be an uncomfortable atmosphere in there as soon as I walked in. The shop is overall uninviting and cold. The staff didn't even bother to approach me. I used to work in the centre for many years and have heard the same about their lack of customer service. I would never recommend it to anyone. I got my dress in a shop in Stanford-Le-Hope Essex. The lady that helped me advised me on the shape that was best for my figure and helped me in and out of a few dresses. She was also tactful but honest and found the perfect dress for me and my individual needs. I'd always highly recommend them. They are friendly and bubbly and nothing is too much trouble.
