Urrrgh kind of annoyed; my fmil has decided that she wants h2b to include the kids and make them flower girls;page boys and junior bridesmaids (in Chloe's case). I'm kind of annoyed as h2b said he did want the kids involved in the ceremony and breakfast which would be fine if he had told me in the first place as we had originally agreed that there would be no kids till the evening reception. But as long as fmil sticks to what she has said and pays for the dresses e.t.c then I don't mind though we'll still have to fork out another £60 to include them in the wedding breakfast (it's £14.99 for kids instead of £24.99) along with flowers and activities...

I might just get them flower girl wands but not sure what to get for gifts or activities? Do I need to?

Also there are six of them all together...
    Ages from 10 to 4...

    That's annoying.

It's good to get them a little present, maybe some colouring books etc. Can you get your FMIL to pay for everything that will be an additional cost?

If she wants them she should pay for them.

True IDL but I don't really want loads of kids either :S Plus if one became a junior bridesmaid then she would have to have the same dress as my ones which would have cost £300 each if I hadn't got the deal of 'buy one get one free' :S

For my page boys (my sons) I have bought them a personalised page boy teddy and filled a jar of sweets and made my own personalised sticker for the front (the jar of sweets including the sweets has cost about £3 as I got a few big bags of sweets from £ shop) and my bridesmaids (my daughter and niece) I've got them a necklace and bracelet that says bridesmaid on the box.in regards to activities i downloaded a wedding activity book template which of course was free,I bought some cheap packs of wax crayons from the bay of e which were about 10p each for a pack of 4 colours and I bought the cello bags you get for when you make your own cards and put them in there.i had to do 12 of these and they work out about 20p per activity pack.xx

My Sister bought colouring books, pens and stuff for her flower girls at her wedding in 2011 (our half sis who was 9 at the time and her god daughter who was 2). It kept them occupied during the reception.

My niece is going to be my flower girl and she will be 2 when we get married. She loves to read so I'm going to make sure she's got plenty of books and other bits and pieces to keep her busy during the ceremony and at the reception while the speeches etc are going on.

Sorry but who the ***** does she think she is "deciding " that you should have kids at your wedding regardless of who is paying ...

Mr lalas mum tried this over his nieces saying that she would pay for dresses etc but we DIDNT want then as bm's full stop ,

I might have to as I was planning on just having my two bridesmaids but as it is; None of the parents are allowed to take them out of school so hopefully that is a way out of it. I'm annoyed at h2b too Carla as we ha originally agreed no kids as they could come in the evening but then h2b goes to see his mum and comes back saying about flower girls and page boys and that he would like them to be involved...

Well why are you bothered now about the kids being included when you weren't initially?... Urgh

    Who's kids are they?

I agree with lala when I read your original post my first thought what who is she to tell you to have kids involved in your wedding.

My sister is getting married less than nine months after us but she has decided she doesn't want the kids involved in her bridal party her only nephew is my son if she decided she wants him as a page boy then starts her choice no one else's. But the kids and there is only three going to their wedding will be there all day. Our son, and two of the grooms cousins.

She has no right to tell your h2b he needs to have his sister and brothers in his/your wedding party. If they were kids from a previous relationship etc then I would say fair enough but not.

Weddings are expensive enough without other people telling you who to have in your wedding party.
